Only in the world according to Kenny Miller. Contracted to 2025. Injury prone. Like O'Halloran before him, saves his best for games against Rangers. His affiliations likely to lean elsewhere in any case. And if that's not enough, we ain't gonna be held to ransom by the spoon burners for an inflated fee. In summary, one of the worst suggestions so far in this thread imo.4 points

I just wish someone would show mercy on the rest of us and close this fukking topic.4 points

xG can also predict the long term success of a team. Ange's first season saw Celtic top the xG table - they were creating the most chances in the league - and many were rubbishing it because we were actually top at the time. All it was saying was that Celtic were creating more chances, which is more sustainable in terms of wins over the long term. We were creating fewer chances, and less likely to keep on winning. Over a match, a team with less xG can win, but over a season the team that can create consistently high xG will win the league. Eventually the actual table matched the xG table and they won the league. CammyF was waxing lyrical about our 4 goal win against Hearts a season or two back. I thought the performance was rubbish. Eventually that 4 goal win was shown to be an aberration; the performances went on being rubbish and the results eventually matched.3 points

I'll pass Rousseau. I'd rather wait and see how this season pans out with all the new recruits. Our failings from last season mean nothing. That's the past and I'm only interested in the present and how that effects our future. This team has played 3 games. Let's give them time. 4-0 vs Livingston with other chances created and missed is good enough for me at this stage of the season.2 points

IMHO, as last season showed with Goldosn, we seriously need an upgrade on all our three defensive warhorses, Goldson, Tavernier, and Barisic. Maybe Sterlin is one answer, Ridvan is okay, but we need better than Goldson and Davies, not least in Europe.2 points

Oh they tried to get rid of Wright too. Unfortunately they tried to transfer him to a Turkish re-education camp. I don't think Wright was too keen on that idea.2 points

Or just shoot more. The amount of times there's a shot on and we pass it wide instead does my nut in. I blame Arsene Wenger.2 points

He's another Michael O'Halloran, not what we need.2 points

Wasn't that just a Kenny Miller suggestion in today's media?2 points

Handbags away, ladies. To change tack slightly, I thought Beale deserved some credit for his substitutions. Livi were leaving space in the channels and we weren’t attacking it with balls over the top or into the channel. It was evident for a good while before the subs were made so it was interesting to hear Beale say that he left things to see if the team could work it out. When he did make the changes, instantly we had more pace and width, which also then challenged some tiring Livi legs and we got the late goals. There have been hundreds of league games at ibrox that have gone in a similar fashion. A work in progress but we’re moving in the right direction.2 points

I have another memory of that Scottish Cup final replay victory over ra Yahoos in 1966. It was after the game and my Grandfather, Father and, myself made our way down Polmadie Road. We were level with the old British Oxygen plant when a flat bed lorry(coal wagon) passed with several dozen Bears on the back celebrating. The truck had to brake suddenly and all but a few Bears fell off the wagon, most climbed back on and the party continued. We can only assume King Kai's 25 yard raker had relaxed the Rangers support and were thus immune to injury? The song being sung on the back of the wagon was : Singing Kai aye yippee yippee aye, singing Kai aye yippee yippee aye, singing Kai aye yippee , Jock Stein's a fcuking hippy, singing Kai aye yippee yippee aye. Catchy?2 points

Rousseau struggling to get past Cammy's low block on this thread. It's just like Ibrox because the spectators and bored/frustrated and several are leaving early.2 points

Was all this xG data you have described so well above compiled by one company? If so, why? It must have been an absolutely massive data dump. It clearly isn’t monetised if it’s readily available for all games, and I’m assuming there must be some sort of AI bot keeping track of all games going on at all times in order to produce real time xG updates? Still can’t get my head round it. Take the Lammers absolute sitter v Servette in first half. That should have an xG of 1 because it should be scored every single goddam time, but clearly he didn’t score, so next time a player has the exact same chance the xG will be below 1 because Lammers missed his, so a striker scoring that sitter looks to have outdone his xG but in reality he has just scored an absolute sitter so shouldn’t have his stats enhanced as a result of another player having a howler? Agreed?1 point

'xG' is specifically for football as far as I know. Probability models could be replicated anywhere, though. I could be wrong.1 point

Jeez! Liverpool rejected by Caicedo (for Chelsea), and now rejected by Lavia (for Chelsea). It's quite funny. I wonder why? Wages? London?1 point

In deepest, darkest Lanarkshire, the Pope featured in a number of songs. My favourite was : It was at Hamilton Cross When the pope fell off his horse And the eagle on his banner flew away They were eating paris buns When they heard King Billy's guns And the durty Yahoo B'stards ran away Ran away, ran away, ran away. Whoever came up with the couplet, 'they were eating paris buns when they heard King Billy's guns' is deserving of an Ivor Novello award.1 point

Looks to be a guy who knows what's happening at Leeds. I hadn't heard there was a release clause before.1 point

I understood your point. However given you were calling for the manager to be replaced 2 games into the season, it seems that you're looking reasons to criticise. We scored 4 goals. Danilo, Souttar and Sima missed good chances and Cifu had a goal chopped off. Dessers even had 3 half chances. That's not bad for a team that's still trying to gel and I just don't know how many chances people are expecting us to create against Livingston.1 point

I see someone actually voted for Tavernier. What a bastion of diversity we occupy. 😂1 point

I think once the forwards have played more games together, we'll make more chances. I also think Beale plans to beat defensive set-ups with quick one two passing, triangles and the like.1 point
-
Lower, definitely. More shots that are from outside the box won't help us much. I think @Gonzo79's point was to take a shot rather than passing when the situation arises, which we do tend to do, a lot.1 point

I just worry that Beale will over-think it. Just play the best team and give Servette something to worry about.1 point

Best to forget about all of this. The team that did all that is finished. Few players remain.1 point

I would actually be tempted to replace raskin from the weekend with Jack, and keep cifu in the middle with Cantwell. Felt Raskin tired 2nd half, and wasted possession a few times. think Sima will come in for Dessers, and would play Danilo through the middle. Goldson will come back in for Balogun if fit, and barring injuries that will be the changes. more than enough to spank this mob in the squad1 point

I'm not getting involved in the argument, particularly as I'm lying here with a blinding fever, but I've always wondered how xG can be considered objective? Does it not require the inputting of data and someone's subjective opinion of what is occurring on the pitch at the time?1 point
-
100% agree and 100% accurate. We've been quick to criticise managers (Gio and MB in particular) for leaving it to late, or making the incorrect subs. Yesterday MB was brave introducing Matonda and Sima, two players who've been roundly lambasted by the some sections of the fanbase (two so called fans near me left the stadium in disgust when MB made the subs shouting they'd never be back). Previously, we've not had these options from the bench - a strong squad means replacing quality with players with different qualities and strengths.1 point

Beale made the right changes at the correct point of the game. Livi were opening up and leaving gaps, Sima and especially Matondo exploited these gaps with their pace and directness. Previously, Livi were sitting deep, so their pace and directness wouldn't have been as potent as it was in last 10-15 minutes.1 point
