  1. Before even considering “taking this mob at Ibrox” we need to work out how to take teams like Hibs, Killie, Accies etc are ibrox. the positivity is great but, as always, doesn’t seem to be grounded in anything other than unadulterated wishful thinking.

  2. We had no midfield left. The switch should have been Windass instead of Holt. Windass had done nothing up until then.

  3. Not sure I share your enthusiasm Ian? Dodoo has nowhere near the heart or desire as Morelos. He certainly won’t take a chance on getting hurt. I put Dodoo in the same bracket as Windass although Windass is starting to dish out the humble pie to many of us.

  4. You are correct, Murphy often penetrated 30-40 yards. A constant 10-15 seconds of holding the ball, whilst waiting for a pass/cross to present itself. It didn't happen, instead Murphy traversed 30-40 yards across the Hibs eighteen yard line, to eventually pass the ball to Tav'. I want Windass, demand Windass provides the necessary 10-15 yard diagonals into the opposition box creating the angles. Murphy is shining, the team should be making hay.

  5. I still think we need a system where we have 2 up front because we're simply not good enough to have 1 up front. 3-5-2 is an option which would also allow 3 central MF players, which I also think we need

  6. As an addendum to this, today as I ascended the stairs to go to my seat,an elderly gentleman with severe walking difficulty was also going up the stairs.Regrettably no other fans seemed to be helping by allowing him time to climb the stairs,so my son and I stood behind him to give him time and helped him to his seat.Unbelievably two stewards at the top of the stairs gave no assistance to the gentleman. Therefore we do not just require better facilities for the disabled but also a look at the abilities of the stewards.

  7. Allen and McGeouch were waltzing through us in the first half and our defensive midfielders weren't up to the job. Something should have been changed midway through the first half but I said to my mates that Murty would wait until 70 minutes and I was proven correct. Yet again his inability to make tactical adjustments has cost us. The fact that Hibs sat back made it appear better in the second half but they always had the ability to cause us problems if they wanted.

  10. Back in 1973 we beat Hibs by four goals to nil two from Sandy Jardine from the spot one from Alfie Conn and the other from big ham and egg , oh and the brother got a skelf up his arse from the wooden planks in the centenary stand .

  14. After a nervy final 24 hours of the transfer window, with Chinese bids received and rejected for our top scorer, we survey the state of the squad and look forward to welcoming Hibs to Ibrox this weekend. Lennon's side will undoubtedly be combative. Look no further than the last game between the sides at Ibrox in August and the refereeing performance of John Beaton. At times it felt like a wrestling match Beaton was overseeing; and like all wrestling matches - he seemed to be steering towards a pre-determined outcome. Jesting aside, like many, I struggle with the idea that referees are actually biased. But that doesn't meant that they don't jump through some ridiculous mental hoops when it comes to how they referee us. Are we judged to a different standard? It often seems that way. But more likely, the standard of our officiating reflects the standard of the Scottish game overall. One of the the key protagonists for Hibs back in August was Anthony Stokes who, curiously, left Hibs yesterday by mutual consent. it seems even the bold Neil Lennon will only put up with his clear attitude and behavioural issues for so long, and that tells you something! Lennon has however brought in Florian Kemberi on loan from Grasshoppers Zurich to replace Stokes. He also brought in Cammy Bell from Kilmarnock, who replaces the departing Scott Bain who was on loan from Dundee and has now joined Celtic; as well as another couple of loanees - Jamie Maclaren and Faycal Rherras. Simon Murray who scored Hibs' first goal back in August has joined Dundee on loan, with Liam Fontaine going to Ross County. How much of an impact those player changes will make for Hibs remains to be seen. But as ever at a clubs like ours, it comes down to our own attitude and application first and foremost. We will need to win the battle first, before we can settle to play the game on our own terms. Murty has instilled a bit of grit to the team and its clear we find the big games easier to play in. With the new additions to our own squad, coupled with a productive training camp in the US for the Florida Cup, we've started the new year with confidence. Hibs will no no doubt put us under pressure at various times. The last game between the sides in December saw them go a goal up in the first few minutes and they were clearly the better side until we scored two goals late in the first half through Windass and then memorably Morelos, with his cheeky near post finish after a glorious bit of skill to eliminate his marker. We saw the game out but Hibs were wasteful at times and the game could have gone either way. Fans favourite Morelos remains with us for the time being. Murty's post match words on Sky following last night's scrappy win against Fraserburgh seemed to suggest that perhaps there wasn't much substance behind the bids from China. Given their transfer window still has another month to go, speculation will no doubt continue. I would however start Morelos and resist the obvious GIRUY temptation to start with Cummings on Saturday. I think its important we put an arm round the lad and make sure he knows he is loved and can progress his career with us. If he continues to improve he will get the move he wants so its not in our interests to stand in his way long term, unless we want to have a Dembele-like situation developing. Much of the rest of the team picks itself in my view, based on the game versus Ross County. Cummings for me is a stick-on to come off the bench and get a goal. I for one can't wait to see his celebration and the look on the spoon burner's faces. Match Prediction: Rangers 3 - Hibs 1 Morelos FGS

  15. Morelos was isolated at times again today, we also expect to much of him. He wasn't at his best today, but he still put in a hard working shift. However he should have been subbed or Cummings should have got on earlier, him and Morelos could have worked as a partnership.

  17. I don’t agree we dominated Hibs in the first half? I felt they were hungrier and faster to everything in the first half, especially through the midfield. We improved in the second half but they were the better side and we were bullied for large parts again. I also don’t understand why Windass wasn’t taken off along with Morelos? We lacked leadership again and it was a really poor performance imo. Yes I’m disappointed like everyone else but as always just calling it as I saw it.

  19. Things like that to me are all down to the attitude of the individuals involved. I’ll give you 2 examples of contrasting experiences I personally have had with stewards. Before the home match v Hearts in August last year, the match commander David Martin made a decision, in conjunction with Police Scotland, to close off the perimeter of the stadium at 2pm from then on due to heightened security concerns. All well and good and understandable to a point. Unfortunately though, no one at the club thought to let myself and other disabled fans and their carers (who parked behind the Broomloan) know. So there was myself, my best mate and 4 hyper children in the car with us barred from parking up and the stewards couldn’t have been less interested and even became confrontational. We eventually had to go home as I couldn’t find anywhere that we could park that I would manage to get my Son to and from in his chair. I took it straight to David Martin directly and he did nothing. On the flip side to that though, there’s a lovely lady who’s a supervisor that regularly makes a point of, before home matches and at half time, coming over and chatting away to my Sons and I, asking how they’re getting on etc A few years ago she arranged for my oldest Son and my Dad (who she always used to chat to and ask after as well) to visit Auchenhowie together to be shown around, meet Mark Warburton and the squad and generally be made a fuss of. My ex Mrs took them along as I was working and they both had a ball. My Dad passed away less than a year later (in September 2016) and at my first match back at Ibrox without him the same lady came over and gave my Son and I a huge hug when I told her the news. Although I shed a tear or 2 that day, I took great pride in telling her how happy and beaming my Dad had been when I saw him later that day after his trip to Auchenhowie and how grateful I was to her for arranging it for them both. Okay she went above and beyond but it’s lovely and heartening to know there are such people involved at our great club where the smiling faces and making our supporters day, like she did with my Son and Dad, is reward enough. Even if they won’t all do that, a bit of compassion and common sense dealing with a situation like you described should be a minimum prerequisite for any member of staff in the stadium surely. Anyone who can’t do that should be dealt with accordingly in my opinion.

  20. I have intimated previously that BBC Scotland are now in the habit of telephoning the opposition manager post match. We must welcome this, as license fee paying Rangers supporters, we receive greater coverage of events unfolding at Ibrox. Further, why should supporters of the opposition be denied coverage also, just because that Saturday's fixture list pairs them with BBC Scotland's least favourite team. Thus, since the end of November, we are the beneficiaries of post match interviews with Tommy Wright, Martin Canning, and Owen Coyle. The first two rightfully lionised their teams for deserved wins at Ibrox. Owen utilised the opportunity to complain about a non penalty than only he witnessed. Richard Gordon allowed him full vent. Then, Big Dick's Dandy Dons were battered again, and there was NO post match interview with Derek McInnes. A shame, I would have liked to hear Derek's take on his third consecutive failure this season. However, today the first post match managerial interview on BBC Radio Scotland today(apart from the 12.30 kick-off) was Neil Lennon. A smug Richard allowed Neil to state today's Hibs victory was up there with ra Sellik's CL defeat of Barca in his managerial feats. Sure, it was a sniggerfest for Big Dick and he enjoyed it enormously. It's such a shame he could NOT bring Derek to the phone. There you have it, at best BBC Scotland's post match managerial interviews are triumphalistic, and at least a grievance line. When it gets personally tough, Richard doesn't bother.

  21. The most disappointing thing about today was that it was a pivotal game in the season - if we'd seized the opportunity to close the gap today it would have been game on and given everyone a real boost. Having said that, and even though it wasn't a great performance, I don't think we deserved to lose today - the stats on possession, shots etc. are pretty one-sided.

  22. Spiers never forgets, particularly where and when he is bested. Back in the day, Jim Traynor spanked him from pillar to post, sans lubrication. Graham is anxious, too anxious to suggest the story is a Traynor invention. Now, Traynor left BBC Scotland because of it's constant need for Rangers bating(remember, when Chief Football Writer for the Herald, Souness banned Traynor for six weeks). Spiers has not appeared on BBC Scotland these last three months because they will not renew his golf show. The Laird of Dunlop is reduced to attending ra Stydome with his two sons. The big cheese is confined to wander between the winds. Graham, you may be windswept, but you are NOT interesting.

  25. John had a poor first 30mins or so but did very well after half-time. Understand folk are frustrated but we were the better team by some distance after the first 15-20mins. By all means criticise the team for not taking their chances (or creating enough) but we didn't deserve to lose.

  26. Just to add we had taken off Candeias and Holt our 2 most hard working players and left Windass our laziest player defending. That really left Goss alone in the Midfield. John was also a nightmare losing the ball constantly. He is better than Hodson but he is slowly slipping down to that class and that makes him probably more dangerous as he seems to think he is Roberto Carlos

  27. Really frustrating day. After the first 15-20mins we were by far the better team but again wasteful and lacking in composure. It's still a work in progress though and we're getting there. Tuesday a big game now! We gave away two really cheap goals and the pen was hard to take after working so hard to get back on level terms. Once again our right side had an off day and we drop points. Difference is, left side did well and more options is good news.

  29. It was a penalty from where I sit (Broomloan Rear down the front) what Tav was thinking I have no idea? We were second best today and got bullied again. Morelos was awful, Windass was awful, Holt was awful. Goss is not as good as McCrorie in that position by a long way. Poor all round tbh.

  30. I don't think we were bad; we just didn't take our chances, conceded a stupid first goal, then Tavernier gives the Referee a decision to make -- he wasn't going to pass it up -- although it was a soft penalty. The mental fragility annoys me: we equalised, then conceded straight after; we should've consolidated, then built on it. It wasn't a bad game, it's just these little moments are going against us. You have to make your own luck, and we're not doing that at the moment.

  31. Terrible first half. Better in the second but still not good enough. Collum was making some odd decisions. You'd hope Jimmy Nichol would tell the players what's required but it didn't look that way today. Gutting.

  43. We have had an eventful few weeks at the club and more importantly around the town, so it is only correct that we place on record our thanks to each and every one of you who have helped in any way. For fear of forgetting someone it is difficult to list the many who helped from both near and far but please know your help was highly appreciated. Many thanks also to all the businesses and homes which had decorated their windows and gardens in the colours of the club and in some cases the colours of our opponents. It has been a fantastic sight going around the town and seeing what it means to everyone to have a football club at the heart of it. If there was ever a reminder to us of our roots and to continue what we do, then this was it. It is genuinely heart-warming to think that our club has been the catalyst for all the good will and happy faces we have witnessed recently. It has past now, and we move back to normality but with that we can take the memories with us and aim to try and replicate that feeling again. In my own head I don’t think there is anybody prouder than me to be a Brocher but deep down I know that isn’t the case and what I have witnessed recently gives me confidence that we really do have a great town bubbling under the surface of all the negativity we hear sometimes. As is always the case there are some who you can never please and who will find the pettiest of things to complain about, but that is life. We tried our best to do the right thing and unfortunately got abuse from some people but once they understood what we were trying to achieve they realised we were trying to look out for them. However, from a very small section of people, we continued to get abuse and criticism and the bad side of social media makes it look worse than it really is. We could come out and say that we don’t care and if you don’t like it then tough, we don’t need you. That might be a reasonable response to some folk, but we won’t do that, it isn’t our style. We want as much people as possible to embrace the club and the town. We don’t get everything right and sometimes we don’t even get most things right, but we do try our best to do the right things in the hope that it works. The Fraserburgh FC Supporters Club have done a marvellous job and I must thank Brian Topping, Kenny McDonald and Mike McLean for the fantastic amount of help they gave us in getting the tickets distributed. The night of the space heaters might sound like a Science Fiction movie but in fact was one of the most humbling things I have ever witnessed and cemented my belief that we truly have a decent community. It was a shame that it didn’t work but it showed to us that we have help there when needed. Rangers FC, The Scottish FA, Aberdeenshire Council and last but by no means least Police Scotland have all been unbelievably helpful. Without the help and support of you guys we would not have got off the ground. Every one of those organisations are made to look like cannon fodder with the amount of criticism they receive sometimes but we have nothing but respect and gratitude for them all. Nothing has been a problem for them. To my fellow Directors and club officials, I thank you for all the hard work in getting the game hosted at Bellslea Park and subsequently being the great occasion, it was. I don’t think people realise how much work goes into the running of a football club and getting matches organised but even I was taken aback by the magnitude of work required for this. We got there though and can look back with pride. Finally, to the players, coaching staff and management. You were the reason we were in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup and must thank you for that but more importantly the way you all conducted yourselves in the media storm that surrounded the game. It was great fun, but it was done in a professional way that portrayed the club in a good light to the watching nation. We can’t ask for more than that. It was an occasion for everyone in the town and one we can all look back on fondly. A million thanks ! 45. Sellik's Joe reminds me of David Icke, both of them receiving despatches from a planet which even the most powerful radio telescopes have failed to discover. Icke, of course, makes a handsome living from peddling such -interplanetary- gibberish; Sellik's Joe, however, discloses the content of these communiques solely in the interests of Truth and Justice, neither seeking, nor receiving, any consideration in return. Still, I do wonder, perhaps cynically, surely uncharitably, if the reports that Joe receives are actually no more than messages in a bottle.
