  1. From what I've seen so far, I'd say he's been quietly effective. Not done anything to particularly stand out....just got on with the job at hand, and done it reliably and effectively.

  2. I am against the abuse of our own players, never understand it, Rangers are hated in Scotland by everyone we don't need to be abusing our own!.

  3. Still think too much is being made of Windass shooshing the fans! he shouldn't have done it but it's hardly crime of the century! let's all move on together

  4. I thought the difference was in both 45-minutes was down to our wingers. In the first half they played wide, cutting themselves off from support, and also leaving our midfield isolated. There was never any easy passes to make. Windass, Murphy and Candeias kept trying to do it themselves and screwing up. You need support. Playing wide suited Thistle, as they could dominate the middle, and then double up when we invariably went wide. Second half, it seemed like the wingers played inside. There's more support all-round, and players have easy passes. Windass assists Tavernier because he runs inside. It was a better structure, both offensively and defensively. We were able to recover the ball well too. That game summed Bates up: atrocious with the ball; every pass was wayward, and actually hit the byline several times. We need to tell him to play it simple -- although I'm sure teams force us to go through him. Then the second half he was immense, clearing everything, tough tackles, heading the ball away. That latter is what he's good at. Well done Windass. He gets an unfair amount of abuse, simply because fans want a certain player-type that just doesn't exist as much anymore. We slate him for the least wee thing. He's one of our best players at the minute. We praise Cummings for showing arrogance, but criticise Windass for it. Cummings has scored 1 goal; Windass has 7. And, as Ian posted above, he's very close to a double-double season of goals and assists; something no one in the league did last year. Several have their minds made-up, and whatever he does will get a response. He doesn't have to do it, but who cares? It's a GIRUY to those who think they can abuse players, then get in a state when something gets flung back. Well done Windass. He's showing a bit of back-bone. (I actually thought he was poor last night, but did the business, which is all that matters.)

  5. Was the Windass gesture a reaction to abuse that he had taken personally or the booing that the team in general received? I didn't notice much abuse of Windass on Saturday whereas I don't agree with booing of the team that happens at Ibrox every time we're losing. I'd also like to tell those that boo to STFU on occasions too.

  6. It will be reasonably cheap...... so long as we don't draw on the facility. Drawing on the facility dramatically increases the cost of credit facilities, and could signal short-term cashflow issues. I don't see this as being either positive or negative. Fairly neutral IMO - many businesses operate with credit facilities and they don't need to have cashflow issues in doing so (my company has over $4 billion of equity and hundreds of millions of $ in cash - but until last year we had a credit facility - it happens). This should provide a back-stop in the event of unforeseen expenditures when cashflow is minimal (as Robertson says, during the winter months) - but it should only be, as I said earlier, a short-term cashflow backstop and not to augment working capital as that would see us walking down a path we have been before.

  7. To me it looks like a substitution for the undertaking given by the Chairman to Campbell Dallas. Absolutely.

  8. If he has been getting abuse then I see no reason why he shouldn't make the gesture. It is highly hypocritical of fans to abuse one of their own players for supposedly inept performances and then get all biscuit-arsed when said player scores a goal and tells them to "Shushhhhh". Why shouldn't he do it ? Because he is a player ? Funny, we have people complaining that Windass has no heart, he then gestures to his own fans, knowing full well there would be backlash, and he gets lambasted again. Josh Windass has become the number 1 whipping boy at Rangers. And people are completely ignoring his contributions of goals, assists and creativity. Many still simply refuse to see that our situation means we aren't in a position to bring in world-beaters and that Windass is actually a very decent option for us. Well, I would contend that those who "give him it ten times as tight now" should take a long, hard look at THEMSELVES. Because giving Windass pelters is almost guaranteed to not have him performing optimally - those same fans will give it "well he shouldn't have gestured".... and I would ask them if they want to see a successful Rangers team or not - because if the answer is YES then Windass (and all other Rangers players too) should be receiving our backing and support - not our hounding. It's not clever your own fans hounding and abusing your team's players - do they honestly think it will actually improve performances ?? We continually tell players to have a word with themselves - when will the fans do likewise ??? Shooting ourselves in the foot - It has been the Rangers way for many years now, sadly.

  9. but he doesn't have the right to respond??? and if he does, folk get even more wound up....bit of an imbalance there. How would the situation unfold if you started yelling at the cashier in Sainsburys, coz they weren't scanning yer messages through quick enough, telling them that they're useless at their job??? I'm sure you'd probably be removed from the store, yet it's a similar situation - just because you are paying for your messages, doesn't give you the right to verbally abuse the cashier.

  10. Apparently, our away form is the best in the league' Our home form is truly appalling. Taking responsibility for the game at Ibrox does not suit us, more space in behind for the opposition to exploit. Overall, I am encouraged we are six points better off, and scoring more goals.

  12. The lad does attend football. I suspect he has been heavily influenced by Phil McFournames modus operandi, tell a big fib involving your child crying to illicit sympathy? After the 2016 Scottish Cup final, he was most anxious to tell all about his levels of exuberance. He is becoming a well utilised tool.

  13. These last 15 years, there is a blind Hibs/Sunderland supporter who regularly calls radio phone-ins. He has NEVER had a good experience at Ibrox.

  14. There are some short memories around. Some of our best post-war players regularly “went missing” in games. Tommy McLean, Willie Henderson and Davie Cooper all did that. Josh Windass isn’t of that calibre but neither does h deserve the manic criticism by many who are simply conforming to the latest group-think targeting of certain players.

  15. Aye, forgot about that but as long as he's defending well, then the strikers can do the scoring...

  16. Another player who has played little football this year, he should prove to be a steady performer for us, so I am quite happy with him so far.

  18. When he's playing in that position part of his job is to help his two other midfielder in defence and the other part is to score goals and assist the striker. It's his job! 90% of Thistles possession came from Windass and Bates poor passing. Although David Bates is weak passing the ball the work he puts in defensively gets him a pass from the fans however most fans like me will be wondering why he is the one who is always expected by our other centre to release the ball to our forwards when he quite clearly isn't very good at it. That bothers me but I tell you what... he never hides, always makes himself available and tries his heart out. Windass however, in spite of his talent, goes missing in many games puts very little work tracking anyone defensively and he loses the ball regularly either through poor passing or lack of control. The fact that he has enough skill to break forward into space, but only when he's in the centre of the park, get an assist or a goal doesn't admonish him of criticism. Fans making it known that they are not satisfied with aspects of his contribution should be a driving factor to do better. Personally I would want him to take that to heart and sort it out. As for the telling his own fans to shh... he can think it if he likes but its not going to help him with the fans by remonstrating. Once you lose the Rangers fans its a very difficult job to get them back on your side.

  20. How on earth does a credit facility put the club on a surer financial footing ? The facility provides short-term cashflow easing - that doesn't alter the need to ensure you "balance the books" ?

  21. I'n not worried in regards to the longer term. My understanding is that the Albion car park and Edmiston House have been used as security. This is not an "overdraft" and I doubt it's a cheap form of short term finance but our options are extremely limited and it may well have been the least worst option if that makes sense. I won't be losing any sleep over it but it's certainly no cause for any celebration irrespective of how you see it spun.

  27. but he has scored several important goals so far this season....several times being the only scorer, yet gets pelters from the fans for poor performances etc. I think he's perfectly entitled to respond & I see nothing wrong with his "gesture". The fans wanted more from him....he gave them a goal to put us in front. What more can he do??? Out of interest, anyone know what impact it would have on results/table position if Windass' goals were removed???

  28. Didn’t say he wasn’t at liberty to do that. I said that he knew the consequences when he did. He scored one goal and then tells his own fans to shut up? Crack on Josh but don’t complain when you get slaughtered for your next bad pass or game.

  31. I didn't think the side was getting much abuse last night. There were groans and shouts of frustration as moves broke down and possession was given away needlessly, particularly in the first half, but no more than usual. Windass is a frustrating player and when things aren't going well I think his lack of dig becomes an issue. Jason Holt didn't contribute more than Windass last night, but he worked hard, harried and put in a couple of crunching 50/50 tackles that brought a roar and the support to their feet. We love a hard tackle, particularly from a wee guy. Windass won't do that, that's not his game. So when you're in a scrap, like we were in the first half last night, and Thistle are working hard, closing space and getting in amongst us, a player like Windass looks like he's not contributing. But then we see the one piece of quality in the half from Candieas and Windass out sprints his marker to get in the box and bury the chance. That's his job, that's the important thing. Holt had the dig, that the fans love, but Windass had the quality to score the first and play a part in the second. That's what wins you matches. That being said playing for Rangers means you'll get stick from the support sometimes, you suck it up and get on with it, show some professionalism man.

  32. I just don't understand the level of abuse our own players receive from our own fans, abuse not criticism as there is a huge difference, I don't think he should have reacted to it but I can understand why he did. The fans that are upset by this are probably the ones who were abusing him!. I can honestly say I have never vented anger or abuse to any Rangers player, what is the point? it won't help improve him any! each to their own I suppose!. It was an immature thing to do and he should be spoken to about it, but it shouldn't be made out to be a big thing, we have all done immature things when we were in our early 20's, long time ago for me right enough
