  1. There has certainly been a lot of discussion over Dougie Ross' handling of his MP & refereeing jobs, but in this particular instance it is completely irrelevant that he is an MP. Nothing more that a sensational headline. He has clearly indicated the foul by waving his flag, and is also communicating to the ref the severity of the actions - indicating that it is a sending off offense. In this instance, he appears to have done his job perfectly.

  3. A few on Twitter were suggesting dropping Windass for the next Old Firm game, for a more 'solid' midfielder. I may be Windass' biggest fan, and I'll follow him until he loves me, but I don't think we're paying attention to the best tactical approach against Celtic. Having a more 'solid' midfielder in there, like Dorrans or Holt (?), is fine but only if we're looking to soak up pressure; get into a solid shape and let them have the ball etc., soak it up and counter. Could work? I think Killie had success with something similar. However, many have repeatedly said that we need to defend from the front against Celtic, pressing high and aggressively -- force Boyata into mistakes! In my opinion, Windass, along with Candeias and Morelos, are the best pressers we have. If we want to press aggressively, we need Windass. We can't have a half-and-half approach.

  5. Silly me, I thought Club1872 might have a role in representing supporter concerns to the club, perhaps even making health and safety a priority. I should have realised it's really a share trader.

  6. The father is the real arsehole in all of this. He created this situation: he was acting like a complete fanny, recording someone and goading them whilst driving and sounded delighted that his daughter had been spat on. Absolute scum. Feel sorry for the young girl pleading with her awful dad. The best end to this story would have been if Carragher got him right in the eyes.

  7. That's the very point that Darther is trying to make. We say we're better than them, have higher standards as fans and club and then the UB step in to prove us all wrong.

  8. Watch linesman Douglas Ross MP roar red card as he urges Willie Collum to send off Jozo Simunovic Celtic star is red-carded after clashing with Alfredo Morelos. Being a member of parliament, Douglas Ross is used to shouting at his work. Even among the 50,000 screaming supporters at Ibrox, you might have been able to hear the linesman as Jozo Simunovic and Alfredo Morelos clashed. If you couldn’t hear the Tory MP, you could certainly lip read. Cameras caught assistant referee Ross urging Willie Collum to send off the Celtic defender as they were drawing 2-2 with great rivals Rangers. Collum flashed his red – a decision that initially looked wrong as there appeared little contact. But on closer inspection, it seems Simunovic caught Colombian Morelos with a flying elbow. The call certainly sparked debate amongst both sets of supporters, although Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers refused to argue against the decision. He said: "I can see why (referee) Willie (Collum) has given it. "Normally, when the centre-half is coming across with the striker, he's fighting for his space, it's normally a straighter arm and there's no drama. But when he catches him with his elbow, you can see why they give it." https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/watch-linesman-douglas-ross-mp-12167832 How long until this linesman is hounded out of his job? the Record are pushing for it already with this attack on him, hope he has a glazier on speed dial!

  9. They did break the law, as far as I'm aware. They organised and took part in a march that was not authorised and did not have the correct permission.

  10. He tried to mix it up with Candeias but Candeias rattled him and then laughed at him.

  15. I’m sure Club1872 will have discussed this with the club by now and we can expect their urgent statement imminently. That’s what they’re for, right?

  18. Goss was mainly to blame for the third goal, in my opinion, and I was suggesting at half time he could have been subbed at that point. He was doing very little late in the first half when we were under the onslaught. He's an asset for games that aren't too physical but needs to show more in games like the Celtic game.

  19. Was Goss at fault for any goals? or Bates? maybe we should just drop the whole team?

  20. No it wasn;t...it was overstepping the boundaries IMHO. This march had NOTHING to do with pushing back against the press or anyone else - it was nothing more than an excuse for open hatred & sectarianism. If they wanted to march..fine, but why have it will all the dark overtones - the flier, the banner, the flares, sectarian singing etc. Why not make it fun, bright & loud. Encourage fans of all ages etc to join in - show the local media & the world what Rangers fans are truly about. Instead, they show everyone that they are actually no better than any other extremist "ultra" group - no better than those they hate themselves (The Green Brigade).

  21. We just need to defend better than we did , we played very well for the vast majority of that game , the sending off actually helped them as they were able to sit back and attack on the break , where as we have struggled to break any team down that sits in deep .

  22. Having been a regular on supporters buses and trains with Bears on the way to and from matches for over 30 years, I can confirm that our standards can be pretty low, so trying to claim we're all upstanding examples of mankind is just ridiculous. The march walked right past me on Sunday and there were a few older ones but they mainly looked about 15-20. Lads in their late teens are always going to be a bit wide, rebellious, loud-mouthed and bloody annoying at times - that's life. I'd love to know what horrors have befallen us all as a result of this march? Please don't include a couple of bad press articles, cos we'd get those after a match against them regardless if we all turned up and offered them a bouquet of roses for their mums and gave a £10 donation to a charity of Billy McNeil's choice. Don't kid yourselves otherwise. If anything, I'd expect the bad press and slightly hysterical reactions from some Rangers supporters to spur the UBs on to do it again...and to get more support.

  23. First test went well on Sunday and we should have an edited version over the next day or so to share with Pod contributors and a few interested forum users for initial feedback. If you'd like to listen to this and offer feedback (good and bad please and preferably more than one sentence) then give me a shout via PM.

  24. I’m genuinely appalled that the club has failed to condemn celtic fans for throwing these devices into our own fans at our stadium which they are custodians of. We can be condemned for using them elsewhere but our Board have a responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone in the stadium (even ‘them’). I hope this silence is because they are talking with the police to ascertain facts but if so then they should state this. More evidence our MD is not fit to do his job. To be clear people have had damage to their hearing and a young lad needed medical treatment after being hit by a £2 coin. Wtf does it take for our Board to say something and act in the interests of our fan safety? Did they say or do anything after a flare was thrown at Wes previously? The only comment they have made is about effing banners over advertising. If one one of these devices was lobbed into the directors box you can bet we might hear something from the Board. It’s scandalous.

  28. OK but come on, the guy is a Tory MP. Surely that can't be allowed in football. I expect Nikla to announce an end to Tories appearing in public in future.

  30. Murty knows him inside out, he will get every opportunity to make it as a first team player, it really is up to Hardie to do that

  31. I would assume that while he hasn't featured much in the 1st team, folk behind the scenes obviously still rate him highly enough not to sell him. A good loan spell, may well set him up for a real shot at the 1st team.

  32. He hasn't been let go he's on loan and he will get a chance at Rangers when he comes back if he proves himself to be better than the current first choices.

  36. Most folk in the real world couldn't give a toss about a daft Ultra march. At work today, only the football and the result was discussed. The press paint us in a bad light most days anyway. Mountains and molehills spring to mind.

  37. A few thoughts on this one. Firstly it's the first time in a while that I've had any level of optimism going into a game with them and that's a sign of progress that we've made. We're still behind them, can't match their financial clout and there is a gulf in class and quality. The mangerial situation between the two clubs is evidnece of this. We have Murty, doing a great job and I'm a fan of his, who has no previous mangaerial experience, and with the exception of a few international caps his main playing experience was with York City (my home team!), by contrast Celtic have a manger with Premier League credentials. There is a vast difference still between the two clubs, but it's narrowing and the players have the confidence to go for it. Had it not been for a cruel miss at the end, we'd have taken a draw from this one. It also occurs to me that, although we did put 2 goals past them, it was against their 3rd choice keeper, given the nature of the goals I don't think it would have mattered much who was in goal, but the organisation of the defence under Gordon or De Vries. Overall, it was a big statement of how far we've come, but was a bridge to far just now. It does suggest, however, that a realistic title challenge next year is the expectation. That's possibly a year or two ahead of where I thought we might be. They'll get number 7 this year, but we should be in a strong fight to prevent number 8 or number 9...

  38. My overriding feeling is one of deep regret too, they were there for the taking and we blew it. Being honest they took their chances really well , but we let them get comfortable even with being down to ten men. It was a great game, usual derby fair, but small mistakes can kill you , Several things stood out for me, we let them dominate the ball for long spells, that seems to spell a disaster in the making for us, we missed some sitters, never good thing at this level. Murty dithered when Rodgers was decisive. The game changed when they went down to ten men, we done nothing to capitalise on that game changer, when Murty made the change to bolster his striker options it looked too little too late. I could hear myself shouting in my sleep last night ''Get Cummings on ffs'' Experience with tactical awareness at vital times and some composure in front of goal would have won us that game. Experience will come with time, composure will come with experience, tactical awareness will have to be learned, but do have we the luxury and patience to allow this time?

  39. While I agree with you, the next game v Killie is the most important one! this will be extremely tough and a must win game, the game against them in the semi will take care of itself.

  40. A couple of hundred young lads singing some songs on the way to a match. Or an SNP MSP having a go at a footballer who spoke to the Police about being assaulted on the pitch at Scotland's national stadium. Pick a headline.

You would think it would be in the public interest to know where this abuse happened in case any of the public’s children were potentially involved. sweep sweep
