  1. Some interesting stuff from Tomkins. Positive from SFA, i guess. Although cant help think that they'll want this over with as quickly as possible and will do whatever gets there. Good to see him not kowtowing to Lawwell and celtic. Very direct.

  2. Killie and Hibs cost us a huge amount of points last season. We must right that wrong in August.

  3. In the past we've had the likes of Oleg Salenko and Joey Barton come in, with high expectations and been disappointed. Then we've signed the likes of Kamara and Morelos, with far lower expectations and been delighted. As Bill said earlier, wait until they play for Rangers before passing judgement.

  4. Good luck to the new defender. However the jump from the 4th league of English football to the pressure of playing for Rangers is absolutely huge, and I can only expect he is here as cover for Katic, and we are looking for another CH as our first choice cover with Edmundson as 4th choice CH. Worrell was totally out of his depth with us (just my opinion, I know some bears liked him) and he came from the English Championship, two leagues above where this guy has been playing. I will admit that worries me greatly.

  9. I believe the SPFL Fixtures are published tomorrow? The objectively random selection of the SPFL computer will spew out reams of green lined paper and punch cards. Interpretation informs all supporters of the progressive sequence of fixtures. A weekend fixture can be any of the three days and nights, from Friday evening to late Sunday afternoon. The midweek equivalent can be either Wednesday or Tuesday. If we match last season's success in the Europa Cup, Thursday evenings are tied up until the New Year; this has a knock on effect, league fixtures happening on a Sunday. Thus, a bit of fun over the next fifteen/sixteen hours, what are the predictions of Gersnetter posters reference Rangers first five fixtures. Remember, the SPFL computer is completely random? Oh, and the SPFL wants all Scottish clubs to progress as far as they possibly can in Europe. Apparently, it helps the co-efficient. I predict Rangers first five will be : 1. Killie (away). 2. Hibs(home) 3. Ross County(away) 4. St Johnstone(away) 5. Sellik(home).

  10. Seemingly Josh McPake has said he and the club have reached an agreement and he will be signing a new contract. Treat as rumour as yet.

  11. Pics don't do the new top justice. One of the best we've had in years in my opinion.

  12. We can only presume that people who recognise a player when they see one have been scrutinizing Edmundson for months. They must think he’s worth the outlay.

  13. Welcome to the Gers George!! Incidently, that new strip is honking. Far too shiney ie. Looks as cheap AF

  15. Rangers have signed defender George Edmundson from Oldham Athletic on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old made 54 appearances for the English League Two side last season, scoring twice. "To come to Rangers is a massive opportunity and I feel like I can live up to the expectation," he told RangersTV. "There were a few clubs interested but as soon as I heard about Rangers there was only one place I wanted to come." Edmundson made his Oldham debut in September 2015 and had loan spells with non-league outfits Ramsbottom United, Alfreton Town and AFC Fylde before establishing himself as a regular starter for the Boundary Park club in January 2018. Meanwhile, striker Zak Rudden, 19, has signed a one-year contract extension at Ibrox. Rudden scored 12 goals on loan at Falkirk last season.

  16. Isn’t that the same no matter when we play on that surface?

  17. Maybe it's just me but when we only play 1 striker I think 2 senior strikers are enough (Morelos & Defoe) and the 3rd should be a youth player like Rudden or Hardie. Waste of money paying Lafferty's wages.

  18. Hardie is under contract under next summer.

  19. The only time fixtures matter is when we have to play Celtic shortly before or after an important European match, but even then we need to be able to cope with that. Every player should know by now the expectations. I'd be happy playing Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts in our opening games because then we have an idea as how well prepared we are for the season ahead. I realise I'm one of the optimists in the forum, but I can't imagine there is a single bear out there who is anything other than desperate to get this new season started. I'd expect the lessons we learned last year (I.e. Consistency is key, and Celtic are not to be feared any more) will mean we have a great chance of 55 this year. I get the feeling from our own camp that everyone around the club is quietly confident and itching to start playing again.

  20. I'd expect him to go on loan again but we're going to have a lot of games to play in August if we get to QR3 of the Europa League so he may be initially retained, especially if Morelos leaves before then.

  23. Translated: No answer because you haven't got one that would make sense. Bombastic logic is all very well but when it can be blown away in a sentence or two, it's shown up for what it is.

  24. Take away football supporters and their perception of an identity (that fuels loyalty) and you have no football, at least as we know it. You say you can merge teams into a UK XI and that it would be hysterical nonsense to protest about losing identity because it's only football. How would you see a merger between Rangers and Celtic football teams ?

  25. No the only thing stopping it is the parochialism of the English clubs and their self-preservation. oh, and Eufa with their opposition to cross-border leagues. It certainly sticks in my craw that Wales can have teams in their league and still have a national side, both more successful currently than ours.

  26. IMO if we really want to challenge, we have to win the first three going into the OF match. We can't let the same old pattern of falling behind them straight away. We need to edge ahead and exert pressure on them and their manager.

  27. Yes but they won’t do that, developing their own players makes them money. Cammy Palmer is a player who has the potential to break through one day. The kind of centre mid who is everywhere and wins the ball back constantly.

  28. A proposal to merge Rangers and Celtic into Glasgow United for a potential UK League was met by widespread hysterical nonsense yesterday despite valiant efforts by some to tell them it was only fitbaw. ...

  29. Growth sector / profile / sell mare taps. Makes sense for a club the size of Thistle. Next up will be a film where their ex-mascot, Kingsley turns into a serial killer of Glasgows LBGT community but is caught by Taggart, played by John Lambie's Ghost.

  30. There is no chance of a UK League. The EPL is too successful. I find it difficult enough to get behind a Scottish national team never mind a UK team.

  31. Edmundson - a young English centre half of good physique from a lower league team, well thought of by their supporters. Or wait. Was that not Worrall?
