Interesting news indeed. He's only in his early 60s so I'm not sure I'm buying 'retirement', there's clearly been a lot of stuff going on in the background for a few months for this to be delivered. I don't know Dominic McKay but I've not been impressed with how Scottish Rugby has been run in recent years. Their inability to turn Edinburgh into a European powerhouse in club rugby has demonstrated ineptitude on a grand scale. They have been good at finding sponsors and corporate partners, very different demographic though. Be under no mistake though, this is a reaction to what we've achieved on the pitch this season.5 points

I can't see someone from outside of football stepping in and being able to exert the same influence as Lawwell, which has to be a good thing for us.4 points

You are correct, Clerr left her position last Friday. Her current employers are the Scottish Government. According to this morning's Daily Record(printers of ra Sellik View and match programme), a three person panel of former top Referees and players convened this morning to decide upon retrospective action for both Morelos and McGregor. Wouldn't it be simpler if Michael Stewart was given the job? He could begin Sportscene each week, announcing the punishment handed down to Morelos and Rangers. Then, he could explain his reasoning, utilising the national broadcaster's specific visual aides, and conclude by reaffirming his admiration of the Green Brigade(a big knowing wink straight to camera). Ah mean, Michael is doing most of the work, he should be remunerated for it.3 points

i don't see us having Barasic post summer. That lad could go play for anyone.3 points

I think that's him finished at Rangers. Probably for the best.3 points

Katic won't be fully fit until the start of next season. We may see him feature towards the end of this campaign hopefully but he's not going to be properly back to normal until the summer I'd suggest.3 points

Didn’t come as a shock. It’s clear Liewell’s time was up. Once Gerrard (eventually) built his own team I always wondered how they’d react to a serious challenge. But it will be interesting to see where Liewell goes from here. Will he retire? Or will he land one of these EPL jobs his Scottish media cheerleaders had been touting him for in recent years? Never heard of his replacement Dominic McKay( I’m not a rugger chap) but how he handles a lot of the issues Liewell’s left behind will make or break him in a very short space of time. Finding a new manager will be his first task but I’ve always been led to believe that their ‘limited lifespan’ stadium will bite them on the backside in the near future. Be interesting to see if that develops into anything It could be said liewell leaving is now Steven Gerrard’s first major success asRangers manager. Perhaps not a football trophy for the ibrox trophy room but a very major scalp indeed2 points

It's possible we will see several first choice players leave this summer and from a financial standpoint I hope we do. Candidates for the exit door will almost certainly include Kamara, Barisic, Tavernier, Goldson, Morelos - as well as squad players like Jones, Stewart, Edmundson, Middleton, Defoe and Barker. They won't all leave and some that do might not want to but we need the money and we can't compete on personal terms. Gerrard will also know that we can still improve in most positions.2 points

A few interesting score comparisons with 3 differing views (obviously my prediction against the oldies is more reliable ? ? ) West Brom v Fulham: Scott - Away win. Me - Draw. Compo - Home win. Arsenal v Man Utd: Scott - Home win. Me - Draw. Compo - Utd away win. And the most difficult which I did switch. Southampton v Aston Villa: Scott - Draw Me - Home win for the Saints Compo - Away win.2 points

Cosgrove has been awful this season tbh, he looks more like the big cairthorse that he did before his one season wonder period. Hibs will end up with Thumb heid again, once that lot finally realise he's no interested in getting himself fit once again. He'll be even more of a nitwit at Easter road, as hard to believe as it is.2 points

Yes, the SRU is hardly a model of excellence, and, if it ever was, has not been for some time. One wonders, then, why a football club would take someone from there for a very senior position, aside from the obvious. (As an aside, my mate texted me to say that McKay follows La Sturgeon, the pope, and rasellik -an unholy Trinity, some may remark- on Twitter, although he did not clarify the order of precedence, if such there is.)2 points

There's been a suggestion that Lawwell was planning to step away after this season after they achieved their "10". However, you're probably right in that any decision has been removed from him, given the issues that they've been having.2 points

As I understand things, we’ve now got 5 league games in February against bottom six teams. Win them all & we’d be on 87 points. With still 2 games before the split1 point

Has anyone seen the 'league' table for punishments handed out by the CO? I'm sure I have seen it somewhere before but can't seem to find it.1 point

I think it is a 2 game ban plus another as it's his second offence.1 point

Aurier apparently stormed out and went home at half time. Is this the collapse of Mourinho again? They were flying 6 weeks ago after beating Man City. The Bale signing has been poor, he may have sat out at Madrid too long and played too much golf. You have to wonder if he is one of these players who was so physical his body may not stand playing into mid 30s. To not play much for a year then come to the pace of the Premier is a big ask.1 point

he said players know where they are putting there feet and can avoid players. Does it matter which incident he was discussing at the time. He clearly knows where he is putting his feet. Alfie who knows what he can and can't do.1 point

I thought he was awful against us both times. Sorry just don't see him as the answer to Scotland's striking problems.1 point

It was on the official Hibs TV. Therefore the Club should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.1 point

I had applied for the position and had looked out my best frock and handbag but never got as far as interview, no sure why.1 point

I wonder if the "club for everyone" (or whatever lie it currently employs to describe itself) considered any BAME, or women, or LBGT candidates. Another white, middle class male, of a particular religious background, in a senior position does nothing for diversity, or inclusiveness, but does send out a signal, as easily read as a puff of smoke from the Vatican lum.1 point

Dominic McKay, educated at St Aloysius, I am told. Chief Operating Officer at the SRU, to which I can say, only, that he will have to go some to replace the biggest 'operator' in Scottish sport.1 point

Given his past record regards Rangers comments, I think it was odds-on Welsh would make some sort of derogatory comment about Rangers after being asked onto Hibs TV for this game. Can we therefore assume that his invitation to appear on Hibs TV was done deliberately with this in mind? Personally I could give a damn what Welsh said. My team beat his team and that’s all I care about. But next time the anti-Rangers pond life crawl out from underneath their rocks with accusations against us let us ask them why they made no comment about what Welsh said last night1 point

Having watched the game back, it's hard to pick anyone other than Kamara - he was on a different level last night. However, it was a very good team performance with Helander, Goldson, Davis, Kent all putting in excellent performances. Also worth mentioning the part the subs played last night, they closed the game out brilliantly.1 point
-
Yes Kamara for me also, he showed last night that he can take some heavy treatment and go back for me, he also had a great match. Special mention for Helander who got a bit of harsh treatment dished out to him none more so than from the ref when he was fouled at the halfway line that tit clancy gave a foul against him also what a clearance header near the end.1 point

The initial post was two months past, it seems a log longer. We played 16 games in two months, won 14, drew one, and lost to St Mirren in the League Cup. The arithmetic equates to a game every four days. It has been a tough schedule and it sees us continuing to sit top of the Premiership, currently 23 points ahead of ra Sellik in second position. Specifically in January, we played five league fixtures winning four and drawing with 'Well sat Fir Park. The victories at Ibrox were 1-0(Sellik), and 5-0(Ross County). Results away were Aberdeen(1-2), Motherwell(1-1), and Hibs(0-1). Thus, 13 points from a possible 15. The Scottish Cup game against Cove Rangers has been postponed, the national cup competition may be another victim of Covid? February appears kinder, we have four league fixtures; two at home against both St Johnstone and Killie, and two away in the plastic worlds of Hamilton and Livi'. The other two games scheduled(home and away) involve Europa Cup tie against Royal Antwerp. At this moment, ra Sellik have three games in hand and are due to catch up and surpass us by the end of February. I believe if ra Sellik play all scheduled and rescheduled fixtures, they will have played one League game more than Rangers by the time we run out at Livi'? Of course, ra Sellik have been knocked out of the Europa, so have free midweeks. If our separated Brethren win all seven of their February league fixtures, gaining 21 points, then they will achieve 70 points. Again, currently we are on 72 points and any extrapolation of between zero and 12 points can be added to that total. I want to see us continue to lead the Premiership by at least 14 points and qualified for successive last 16 of the Europa Cup, by the end of the month. In the mean time, one game at a time.1 point

Yeah, with the season Goldson's having it wouldn't surprise me if there's interest in him. Albeit I've no knowledge of this player (or the Aberdeen player we've signed whose career to date has slipped well below my radar) I'm delighted we're looking to strengthen and increase competition. He's played at a decent level, he should, in theory, be good enough for this league and he keeps everyone on their toes. Great management.1 point

I think he's being bought to boost the homegrown players and to replace Stewart/Jones. Nothing to get excited about.1 point
