  1. To overcome this morning's dehydration and pounding sore napper, I decided to peruse the social media feeds of some of our club's worse detractors this last decade. The usual suspects, you know the ones who have pounded Rangers and Rangers supporters on an industrial scale? Well, they are all, without exception, remarkably well disciplined. Literally, no mention of the game. Some claim they watched cartoons with the children, some claim to have been seduced by the improving weather, got out and did improving activities. One claimed she made cock-a-leekie soup for the first time. This is Sinn Fein levels of discipline, only financial guru(chancer), David Low has withdrawn and locked his account. The very few making any comment are on the fringes of Bampottery, Sellik Quick News inviting consideration of ra Bhoys deliberately throwing the game? The Cleansing factor is something very real for our separated brethren, the failing diseased entity must be burned clean before active support can be considered for the rising phoenix. Congratulations to ra Herald's Aidan Smith, Mourinho receives the tin-tac and creatively Gerrard is favourite to replace. Banish the scourge that has emerged from the state of being, "quietly terrified". Listening to John Kennedy, Sellik's defeat was because of a lack of confidence, belief and, intensity. Easily sorted, send Broony down the local Co-op for a quarter pound of each. I hope Scott remembers to use his Divvy number, or Peter will have him in for interview without chair? Gordon Strachan's ranting ramble was more a crie de couer for his two sons currently working at the Chamber of Secrets. PQ told Tom English he was het and his piece is relatively fair in documenting the turnaround in both clubs' fortunes. Even the Daily Record appears to accept the good ship, 'Sellik Warchest' has sunk. We are left with anecdotal tales of TVs being thrown through windows and closure of the Erskine Bridge. In that vein, I note the Scottish Rugby Union has advertised for a new Chief Executive Officer this morning. I am reliably informed the first application received by recorded delivery pre-noon, was from Dominic McKay? Sellik's trophy cabinet is cleaned out and the baw's burst. I will have to be content with the sound of deflation.

  2. Fear not. The announcement of Eddie Howe was only delayed because they were waiting for the Special One to become available.

  3. This season has been an amazing success even before today and would still have been a success if they had won. However, victory today means that Celtic have nothing to hide behind, no valid excuses, and, best of all, no trophies.

  4. That would presume that UEFA agrees here or bans said winners for later competitions. We shall see.

  5. If these greedy bastards elite clubs were factored out of UEFA's decision making process, maybe there would be more support for Champions League and Europa League qualification being made more of an even playing field.

  6. You'd have to assume qualification would be on the basis of revenue potential.

  8. Its going to be an interesting summer to see what we do in terms of incomings and outgoings. I guess the only people who know what we have to do to balance the books are on the board. I guess in simple terms, will we need to sell one of our absolute top players (Kent, Morelos, Kamara) or could we achieve the same by selling a couple of our other players instead (Helander, Aribo)? I'm hoping that our refusal to let Morelos go last season for anything less than our valuation has set out our stall as to how we'll be this season. Like others have said, players have to want to go - I'd be surprised if many would be in that boat given they've got a real taste of success now and there's the potential of CL football next season too. Its an exciting time to be here and the whole club seems to be in a very happy place.

  12. This wasn't a stroll today. Celtic had some great chances and blew it. Two goals put Rangers in a position to stop chasing the game and absorb pressure. Looking forward to watching them flail around and overreact for a few months.

  13. My my my beautiful Sunday! Another comfortable victory over the greatest team to ever play the game, and it’s a long overdue trophy less season for the establishment club and the hordes of horrors in the mhedia and elsewhere who follow them. They truly thought this outcome where they win nothing, not even a single OF game, and we are miles ahead of them would never come. They thought they had killed us off, that their financial and political superiority gave them such a big advantage over us that it would take us a generation to challenge them again, that “the 10” was a foregone conclusion. Well I am loving how the reality has really hurt them, and how proud I am that we have a team who are clearly better than them in all departments on and off the pitch (apart from in the mhedia, governing bodies & politics) and how we can beat them with ease. After the last decade of hurt, thrashings, trebles, Ashley and Pedro, we really need to soak up these victories in all their glory. The only regret is having to watch it from home and not being able to be inside the stadium followed by hours of chat in the pub with fellow bears. While we didn’t go on and thrash them in the second half like I would have wanted to, it was a controlled performance and even when Madden got yet another big call wrong (perfectly honestly as usual of course), McGregor stepped up to deny them a way back, and it was cruise control after that. McGregor Patterson, Davis Aribo, Kent all had very good games and that was enough to beat the greatest team ever. How far we have come!

  18. Apparently a letter of intent has been signed by 6 EPL, 3 biggest Spanish and 3 biggest Italian clubs to form a breakaway league. Gary Neville going absolutely MENTAL about it, and rightly so ! Scandalous

  20. Can't see that happening. FFP was their shot at that and it didnt work. Through the decades there have been clubs that have had more disposible income through investment or benefactors than others. In the 30's it was Arsenal. Sunderland were once called the "The Bank of England" club back in the late 40s. Man Utd used to buy every good striker each season in the 70's and 80's and Liverpool had the Littlewoods Pools family behind them during the same period. Blackburn had access to funds in the early 90s and other clubs like Everton and Newcastle have spent the last few years trying to secure new onwers with funds, with Everton succeeding recently. What you cannot have is the tail wagging the dog, so i would stipulate that clubs (all clubs) are part of the cultural fabric of the area they operate in and have the governing bodies and governments/local authorities grant clubs special status that prevents any new owners from acting in a way that harms the supporters or the club. If it is a governing body sanctioned competition then fine, if not then the rules should prevent them taking part. We have to ensure the mainly american owners understand that European football isn't built on a franchise model and never will be. MK Dons withstanding.

  21. It annoys me to see the likes of Gary Neville doing his moral grandstanding bit. This is a man who bought EFL status for Salford City by distorting the playing field in which they were competing against other non-league clubs. How is this proposed ESL any different to what he did, other than in scale? I don't lie the idea of a ESL but part of me would love to see the back of clubs who have showed no concern for the welfare of the sport at all over the last few decades.

  25. The plans are that all these teams still play in their domestic leagues, but they'd be out of European competitions - and they'll not be let back in easily! It's only the 'founding members' that are spared relegation.

  26. If we just siphon off these elite clubs, I think what we have left is a much fairer situation, with clubs closer to each other financially. In that sense, Rangers have a better chance of being involved in the CL regularly -- albeit a diminished CL.

  29. Looking at the news, I'm finding the moral condemnation from some quarters, especially Premier League fans, pretty amusing. Have they only just noticed the corruption that their favourite clubs have indulged in for the last 20 odd years?

  30. We can put a stop to it by banning all the players from internationals and their respective leagues; they must not be allowed to have their cake and eat it. I fear though that there will eventually by some sort of mucky messy compromise with sweeteners. Speaking parochially, I don't think they will give Rangers a sniff.

  32. You make one simple mistake: reading the published details. There is only one thing that you need to know about it. The big teams only suggest changes that divert more money towards themselves. This reduces competition and makes football boring. Go back and look at any change suggested by the top teams. The history of the European cup since ~1990 should make it blindingly obvious. Even the history of Scotch football since ~1998 will show you.

  35. Here is Red Nev "I am disgusted by Manchester United and Liverpool the most," "Liverpool, they pretend (with) 'You’ll Never Walk Alone' (they are) the people’s club, the fans’ club. Manchester United – 100 years, born out of workers. And they are breaking away into a league without competition, that they can’t be relegated from?" A barrier to competition you say? Wait until he learns that his beloved workers have formed trade unions!

  36. I can’t see this happening. UEFA and the domestic FAs will strip their titles before conceding power to the big clubs.

  37. The regularity with which we now swat them aside is healing a lot of hurt. The memory of them toying with our Championship teams is at last being put in its proper context. We’re no longer a club that’s arrived after a long and difficult journey - we’re a club preparing for dominance. Stephen Gerrard and his entire staff and players deserve more than they know.
