2 days, he's had 2 days. Honestly, in the last few weeks we've had Greegs is shite, Kamara is shite, sell the fuckin lot of them, and the best one of all, the golden nugget that I'll never forget - Neil Lennon contributed more to 55 than Gerrard did. And here was me thinking Follow Follow had all the drama queens. Support your bloody team.6 points

The more exposure Bassey gets to first team football, the more he seems to adapt. Given the injury situation, I can see him getting a decent run of games.4 points

Gio got the right reaction from the players last night , defence in particular seemed to show a bit more solidarity, and we're through ,when after the Hibs game ,all seemed a bit beyond us tbh. As nice as it would've been to get into the Lg cup final, the Hibs game was the last remaining part of Gerrard's legacy ,who had no success at all in cups , so we draw a. line under that one , and i'll take European football with Gio next year instead thank you very much. Only disappointment last night was queueing for a pie at half time only for the guy in front of me to get the last one 😀 .3 points

Only time will tell , lets wait and give the new management team a bit of time to implement their ideas . What we need is to go on a run till the winter break that allows us some breathing space , hopefully some players will depart and be replaced by Gios choices .3 points

I'd give MotM to the ballboy in GF1, after his highly successful wind-up (not giving the ball to the Sparta player and following it with with some cheeky nodding and smiling). His actions got at least two Sparta Prague fans lifted. 🤣3 points

It’s a good start. This is the team who lost to Hibs a few days ago so it was never going to be perfect. We looked more creative last night but we do lack a goal scoring touch up front. There aren’t many goals in the three of Aribo, Kent and Hagi and that showed last night with very good chances not taken.3 points

Yeah, it was far from what we want but it was decent. I was surprised and increasingly frustrated that the manager seemed to delay much required changes as the game went on. On a positive side, we did create plenty of good chances and, on another day, we win that game 5-0. Instead we're hanging on to a degree and reliant on a great double save from McGregor. The appointment of a new manager was never going to be an instant fix but there were enough signs of improvement to give us some confidence.3 points

I thought there were a lot of good signs last night. we moved the ball faster. We played higher up the park and pressed the ball high up. Got both goals from doing so. we were more aggressive at the back our attitude was much better. We were far less predictable. McGregor made a save or two and what saves they were. Makes you wonder what was going on under Gerrard to be honest. Some of the old habits crept back in at times but that will get better with more coaching time.3 points

I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not (@Frankie?), but there's an offer for The Athletic, if you're so inclined. It's currently £1 per month for 12 months: https://theathletic.com/checkout2/intro12monthly/?source=video_youtube_contentvideo They've got a lot of good writers. Jordan Campbell does a fair few Rangers articles. The content's great, but I wouldn't pay the usual £7.99 per month for it. It's pretty good for a quid.2 points

Are we all just going to gloss over the fact that Morelos was exceptional last season, playing that deeper role? I can't believe how quickly the narrative switches. He's been sh*te this season, but so has everyone else.2 points

Vos seems to be the tactical coach we wanted. I'm not entirely convinced of this, simply because he was coaching in the Ajax system, which is quite authoritative. He's not coaching 'his' ideas, if you know what I mean, it's Ajax ideas. However, taking some of the Ajax ideas cannot be a bad thing, can it? I think it's an exciting appointment, nonetheless. He seems to be a good developer of players, from what I've read.2 points

I’m nervous with Bassey at CB because I don’t think he’s a natural there but he was fantastic last night. So much hunger and desire, great to see. That kind of thing is infectious.2 points

FWIW, I've gone for Bassey. He didn't impress at centre back in the first game against them but was certainly a lot better last night - though Goldson had a good game as well, aside from expecting McGregor to come for that late cross which almost cost us.2 points

The bigger test will come on Sunday against an opponent (and on a pitch) where we have always struggled. That's where I would like to see a tangible change in attitude.2 points

Just back from the game. Dighted with the result and the performance but felt we should've scored more.2 points

What was everyone expecting here? Gio has to work with the squad he has... I feel like a lot of fans are expecting Gio to come in an read the riot act but why would a new manager come in and shoot his load straight away? That's a one and done strategy. He's got to give the players a chance.2 points

All this season I have been saying that Gerard has/had been destroying Morelos by using him as a link man instead of what I call old fashioned centre-forward(striker). Similarly McCoist took Kris Boyd, who scored goals for fun and deployed him in that role as link man.1 point

Main thing is were in the next stage. Plenty of positives to take from last night as well. We could have scored 8 or 9 last night, disappointed that we never took the chances but at least were making them in the first place. Good to see a real sense of urgency in our gameplay too. Good start grom our new manager!1 point

I would still drop Morelos. He thinks he can silence his critics after scoring the first goal in the match last night. I hope he understands that he can only silence his critics with a league win.1 point

I dont think he did a huge amount. He was probably just there as someone Gerrard trusted for advice, someone who he could talk to. The fact that Gerrard's taken him to Villa suggests he had his uses.1 point

Why are all these players collapsing on the field? There was a lad playing for Sheriff that collapsed recently, a Belgian player not long since, Fleck was hospitalised, there's now a player in League One that just collapsed, and Aguero has just retired because of chest pains. And, of course, Eriksen in the summer. Are they being pushed too hard?1 point

And all those folk on here who wanted him dropped! Or sold!1 point

I voted Bassey purely on his attitude - but probably should have voted Alfie for his goals1 point

The poor conversion rate has to be sorted. The first goal was brilliant in creation and execution. The second, my granny could have scored and she wasn’t great with headers. Credit to Alfredo, though. His anticipation is uncanny. He knew what the defender was going to do. There should have been more. I’m away to girn somewhere else now.1 point

Kamara and Morelos were much, much better than they were on Sunday. I've went for Bassey too. Being honest, I was worried about him starting there, particularly in light of his showing in the reverse fixture but he played very well indeed (similar to Balogan, who went from bombscare to comanding defender overnight).1 point

I suspect if we watched the game back with the pressure off we would view things little differently. Also as has been said expecting to much change after 2 days is unrealistic. I though there were promising signs though.1 point

I don't know if it's just because my nerves were shot by that second half, backs-to-the-wall performance, but I wasn't too impressed last night. Of course, GvB's only had a couple of days, so we can't expect too much change. I thought it was interesting that we were playing a 4-4-2 in defence, which is a solid set-up. I don't think we pressed high at all, it was more of a mid-block. I did think our defenders were a lot more aggressive, though. And, we did press higher second half. It was a 4-2-3-1 in attack. Kent and Hagi were noticeably wider, with moments where they played it well, then others when they didn't. I expect that to improve, though. Aribo as the #10 was interesting, because it suggests GvB doesn't want a 'creative' #10, but more of a second-striker, someone with energy that can play in tandem with the striker. (Then again, Aribo and Hagi swapped position after a while, so it's fluid.) Generally, I was a wee bit disappointed. I would like to see more controlled possession in my teams. That may come, though, as GvB works with them. The result was all that mattered, at the end of the day. Job done.1 point

Positive in parts but still worrying that we let a bang average team back into the game which made the last 20 minutes hard to watch tbh. Good to see the fans staying to the bitter end and not leaving early thinking that the job was done. Also strange to see GVB go straight up the tunnel and not acknowledge the fans. Maybe I missed him doing that?1 point

Understand the skepticism in the line-up but at least the manager will find out very quickly if certain players are up for the fight under his management.1 point

Ryan jack has come off the bench twice now and is hopefully close to being ready to start games. Our goals conceded numbers will definitely improve when Ryan Jack is starting every game.1 point

McLaughlin will at least come for crosses and his distribution is much better than McGregor's, not to mention quicker at getting the ball back out to the outfield players. What he doesn't seem to have is that rare ability that elites have to make those absolutely top-drawer, "HTF did he get to that?" saves, but very few do. Very few clubs rotate keepers, even when they're the best team in their respective country. There's a reason for that. Given the mistakes we've been making, I've no idea why we've been rotating them this season.1 point

an appeal now would probably see them make the weekend and miss rangers.1 point

here is a post on the actual stats. Mental frankly. Posted a thread recently saying we had lost 12 goals from the last 16 shots on target. Thought that was bad enough. Looking at it further we have lost 6 goals in the last 3 games while facing 5 shots on target. Takes a bit of doing. It is also 7 from 7, 9 from 10 and 10 from 12. F.ucking ridiculous.1 point

goldson was stating a fact. if he had said it at half time there would be an issue bit he said it after the game as a statement of fact. what he said was spot on. Christ fans were leaving at 3 nil.1 point

From another place. (Let’s be fair. It’s FF) Arthur Numan admits he was astonished by Connor Goldson's post-match comments after Rangers crashed out of the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday. He said: “To lose a semi-final in that way was unacceptable. I can't believe the manner of the defeat. I was then even more surprised by Connor Goldson's comments in his interview on television at full-time. “For a Rangers player to say the game was over at half-time when the team are 3-1 down was an astonishing admission. “To also say that the team has lost a bit if hunger was equally alarming. How can you have lost a bit of hunger when you have won one trophy in three seasons? “Yes, I get that the trophy was one of the most important in the club's history and Steven Gerrard and the players will always be remembered for it. “But you need to go and win again. And again. And again. And again. Rangers is about winning silverware on a regular basis. If you don't have the hunger and desire to do that then you should be asked to leave or be sold on.”1 point
