Won't be saying that next year when we are in the CL and have 3 chances to stay in.5 points

Acht well, Europe parked until February, concentrate on the league until then give it our best shot. Think we've done well in Europe again this season so no disgrace if / when we are knocked out. League is #1 priority4 points

I think we need to add Ryan Jack to that list - after this latest set back, thinking we require a replacement for him.3 points

A repeat of the '66-'67 ECWC tie. Dortmund were ECWC holders and we got them in the second round. We won the first leg at Ibrox 2-1, King Kai and A Smith were the scorers in front of 65,000. We drew 0-0 in Germany, winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate.3 points

I'm thoroughly enjoying Van Bronckhorst's management. Subtle changes have all worked well and things look so much better than they did a few weeks ago. If recruitment goes well in January, we might be onto something special.3 points

Agreed. I can't see us getting past any of those teams, unfortunately.3 points

Unexpectedly on the move this afternoon, my only access to a score was by sportsound and even that intermittently. Thank God because I couldn’t have tholed ninety minutes. It was angry. Very, very angry. An angry Paul Mitchell was commentator with an angry John Robertson and some other angry bloke. Rangers were 0-2 up when I joined and they weren’t much interested in describing the play. Instead I quickly learned from Mitchell that Rangers had lost their first away match of the season at Tannadice, relevant to today’s proceedings I know not how. Next, the intriguing statistic that up to today, Hearts hadn’t conceded a first half goal at home all season, a record only matched by celtic. At that point I had to attend to other matters so I don’t know what further gems of non-information were ofered I next joined at halftime into an excited debate among the commentary team about whether Rangers’ first goal was offside or if there had been some other infringement. The matter was settled more in sorrow than in anger by Richard Gordon in the studio telling them that pictures revealed the goal was legal. Suddenly, like Dracula rising from his coffin, an even angrier Tom Gibberish intervened to say that Rangers had been very good for about four minutes but before and after, Hearts had been the better team. Somebody must have drawn up the studio blinds because that angry creature vanished as suddenly as he had appeared but he’d thrown a comfort bone to the commentary chaps who picked it up and started gnawing at it confident that Hearts would get the next goal and it would be a different game. Luckily, I had to tune out for the rest of the programme. Force majeure aside, I would have switched off anyway. It’s many years old since I listened to that programme. Mitchell used to be not too bad. How @26th of footcopes with this sort of stuff, I do not know. Must be down to good Covenanting stock and the rigours of the Parachute Regiment. Double armour that I do not possess.3 points

What a scam by UEFA really. The seeds should have been the 4 best EL group runners up and the 4 best 3rd place CL drop outs. So it was impossible for us to be unseeded and the CL drop outs to be seeded. I suspect UEFA fully intended it to be that way pairing the CL teams with the runners up of the lesser competition, in the hope they keep the biggest names alive in the EL. Can't believe I have just cottoned on to this. It will be interesting to see how many 'seeded' teams get through to the last 16. Maybe 1 or 2 out of 8. That said, I prefer a glamour tie anyway, would have taken Barca, but Dortmund will do. I hope all the seeded teams win and a GIRFUY to UEFA. (Well, apart from Sheriff, hope they progress).2 points

Randomly we have a good record V Dortmund. We have played them 8 times in Europe and have only lost once.2 points

Dortmund! Ooft! Haaland might be away by then - he'll not want to face Goldson...2 points

GVB Played 6 W5 D1 L0 F12 A2 I think the most eyecatching stats are the goals against and the fact that we have scored first in every game. That wasn't happening under SG this season.2 points

There are probably teams in the draw hope they get Rangers 🤣2 points

Itten has not really been playing much recently for Gruther after starting initially. You have to wonder if a guy that cant get a game for the worst side in Germanys top flight (by some distance) is good enough for us. He has showed flashes of what he can do. I have also heard he struggled to settle in Glasgow on a personal level. We knew the injury issues that came with Roofe when we bought him and he is a very good player, but as with Helander there is no point having quality players on the treatment table. We need them on the park.2 points

I think a few players stood out. Aside from the early Boyce chance, Goldson was again very good and helped create both goals. Aribo flitted in and out of things but was good - same can be said for Kent and Sakala. I also felt Morelos had a fine game and certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. My award has to go to McGregor who really was top notch from the first whistle to the last. The early Boyce save showed superb agility and was only topped by the late double save when Bassey gave the ball away.2 points

It was interesting seeing how many really good chances we seemed to make from counter-attacks yesterday and on quite a few, the final ball/decision-made was the wrong one, so I wonder if this is something we've been working-on in training but isn't quite there yet.2 points

It's not a dumb question but Dortmund missed out by finishing third on goal difference; the third team in the CL were not meant to be a top side!1 point

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I may not have been paying attention. How did we end up with the hardest draw when we were seeded? What was the benefit of being seeded?1 point

Agree with this, enjoy the occasion. If we go out then we focus on the league & cup. We have made Europe post xmas which was always the goal.1 point

Now then, GvB and Claudio Reyna played for Rangers, under DA, and were, I am told, best mates, so much so that Claudio's son is called Giovanni, and he, coincidentally, is plying his trade as a pro footballer at......Dortmund.1 point

My father used to say if were going to get stuffed better to get stuffed by a right good team this was back in 1963 just before he flew out to Madrid to watch us get beaten six nil and we were lucky to get that nil🤣1 point

It’s sad that in the 22 years since we last played Dortmund a gulf has grown between the sides as football has become all about the top clubs in the top countries and money has completely taken over. We played Dortmund four times in the late 90s. Two 2-2 draws in 96 and a 2-0 win each in 99. Very close games with Bayern in 99 too. Changed days now though.1 point

When we drew Dortmund we had a 33% chance of getting them and 67 of getting Sheriff1 point

We have a decent recent record against Porto and Portugese teams, would take them above any of the others. Alternatively, Barca for the glamour and money (ticket prices, travel to away leg, sponsorship etc) then bow out gracefully and concentrate on the league.1 point

Aribo again stepping up and getting a goal. Delighted at how much he has improved his final ball/finishing recently. This guy can get better too. Will attract attention in January,1 point

It’s interesting that, so far, under GvB we’ve become more consistent in our performances. Previously we could be very poor one game and outstanding in the next game. I think this is down to the defence being much better. Goldson now seems to be commanding again and Barasic is defending well. Between them they seem to be looking after Bassey, who is improving in his role. A few weeks back there were calls for McGregor to be dropped. Now he seems back to his best. Not having Tavernier and Barasic so high up so often makes the defence more compact . The team just seems more balanced and playing with confidence. It could be down to who we have been playing. The Dundee game aside, all the games have been potentially tricky so we’ve not been going gung-ho so there has been more emphasis on having the defence functioning well. I don’t begin to fully understand the subtle changes in our tactics but I like what I see.1 point

Yes, I agree, which was why I was one of the few who were actually excited about a change in management.1 point

Great result at a difficult venue. Hats off to GvB - the results since he arrived have been terrific.1 point

GVB inherited a team which had just lost a LC SF to a struggling hibz team. Yet another domestic cup capitulation. During SG’s reign we got put out of cups by Aberdeen (twice) , St Johnstone, St Mirren & hertz. And there was,of course, the LC final against the yahoos with their offside goal. This needs to change & Im sure Gio knows this. The one loss in 52 league games you keep referring to includes last season. But last season is now history. Focusing on this season we were too often nowhere near those standards. Home draws against hertz, Aberdeen & Motherwell for starters. As I said earlier I do think we’d lost our way a bit under Gerrard but there are already good early encouraging signs under GVB that we’re getting back to where we were last season, particularly in league form.1 point

Tend to have a few spares a mixture of adults, concessions and juveniles for most games save Celtic. These are in the same row in GR5 pretty much level with the centre circle. Can configure to suit any mixture sitting together. Price is always face value which can be checked on Rangers website.1 point
