To be fair, to see players sold - even at a small loss - rather than allowing them to run their contracts down is a step in the right direction.8 points

All the best, Sam Adrianus Martinus Lammers! I'll always remember when he... That day he... Did that... When he... Good luck!4 points

When hearing the name 'Hannibal' it's interesting to see whose first thought is elephants and Alps and who thinks of cannibalism and Jodie Foster. A true cultural divide! Recent loanees have done ok, Tillman and Sima were successes I'd say. There's some incentive for this lad with his contract nearly up and it being unlikely he's going to make it at Man Utd. I saw him against us on Saturday. He caught the eye however I'm not sure if that's because of his unusual name and impressive hair or because of his ability. We need some bodies in, this doesn't seem like the worst business we could do.4 points

I decided to avoid the Bear congregation and do some sightseeing today (Bierpinsel, Kaiser Wilhelm church and some unexpected journeys due to construction work on large parts of the S Bahn...somebody could've warned me!). My son and I had a good laugh at some cross dressers on the U Bahn and it has to be said that German blokes really should avoid black leather jackets - no matter how they wear them they look like they're in the SS. 🤣 Soviet memorial will be visited tomorrow, pre-match, in honour of our East Berliners. I'm hoping to fit in Hitler's Schwerbelastungskörper and Bowie's apartment too but the S Bahn issue may hamper that. Mon The Rangers!3 points

Diomande - could be ok, jury out. Raskin - I thought he’d be a good signing. I may be wrong. Injuries prevent him from getting a settled run of games. Barron - still novice. Dowell - oh dear. Rice - promising eighteen months ago. No progress. Lowry Mk 2. McKinnon - is he promising yet? So really Diomande, Raskin and Barron.3 points

Shankland is a goalscorer; Dykes is just a target-man. I wouldn't mind Shankland for a modest fee, but I don't see Hearts playing ball. Dykes is a hard 'nope!', for me.3 points

I'll only make a prediction if @Rousseau is handing out grand board titles. Still waiting for my super-special Euro 2024 winners avatar, after all! And I need to bookmark this thread, so we can go over it on January and May 2025 ...3 points

I'm personally a little disappointed we've not been able to find a place for him, but I'm not displeased to see him moved off the wage bill if he's not in Clement's plans.3 points

Some information for the day ahead (which I hope will be an interesting one): - Cifuentes will be changing his loan club to Aris Thessaloniki for this season with a mandatory purchase option - Goldson has been videoed heading to Amsterdam with luggage suggesting a move (perhaps Aris Limassol but could be a Saudi club) has been agreed - Cerny hopefully passed his medical in Manchester so may be announced later - Jordan from Seville could be getting closer as well - Harry Souttar is being allowed to leave on loan for this season3 points

Wow, Sam Lammers has gone. All the best to him. I have a twinge of disappointment that we never got to see him like he was in Holland.2 points

Tbf Jack and Raskin weren't exactly regulars last season, and Lundstram was posted missing too often. I'm up for a re-rig in the engine room, it's high time.2 points

Lest I forget ... ... the game will be screened on free TV tomorrow afternoon. You may have to do some VPNing to get this working, they currently show Essen vs Leverkusen, if you want to try your luck. https://tv.sport1.de/live/sport12 points

They won't come up with a better headline than that you can be sure; some of the pathetic puns they trot out leave me in despair.2 points

And here's a cultural touchstone for older Western loving supporters: 'Alias Smith and Jones'. This was a western TV series, which ran way, way, back, in which the main characters were Hayes, and Curry - Kid Curry, and, yes, you've got it, Hannibal Hayes. (I once researched the Western genre, on film and TV. It all changed with 'Shane'.)2 points

Cantwell has some degree of footballing talent but isn’t able to deploy it consistently or for that matter, effectively. Not at all sorry to see him go. (Nothing to do with his daft beard and stupid haircut, honest)2 points

I fancy us to win the league this year. I believe the manager will sort the squad out by the end of the window and if we avoid defeat in first OF game we will push on from there. CL qualification may be too much too soon.1 point

I'd expect a few more new faces before then, Compo 🤞🏼1 point

We are skint if it wasn't for these directors loans and some cagey transfer deals this football club/business would go under .1 point

I don’t think Rice and MacKinnon can be classed as first team players. They’ve a handful of games between them at best. All things considered that’s a very poor MF group of players at present1 point
-
A LCB and a two way player who can play 10 and 9 would make sense.1 point

We are now horrendously short in MF. Lundstrum and Jack have gone, Cantwell wants away & Raskin is injured. We’ve only got the uninspiring Diomande & wee Barron plus youngsters although maybe sterling will play in MF if tav stays. And with Goldson gone for CB we’ve only got 36 year old Balogun, Souttar and Davies. Lot of work still to do…1 point

I love an inswinging cross. You don't see it much, but it always looks much more dangerous than a traditional cross.1 point

Props Compo. These are the best threads IMO. The misery...lol! I expect Rangers, if Clement's PoA is sound, to bounce back relatively quickly. League-Second place. I say a slow start will kill our hopes for a league title. Cups-Scottish Cup I do think we will have our shit together (combined with some lucky draws) enough by the season's 30% point to seriously challenge for one, if not both domestic cups. CL- Europa League-If it is an 'easy' group? Second...then no idea. That should coincide with when I expect things to really start clicking...Xmas. Back at Ibrox, team gellin...bam son!1 point

5 yellows in 5 starts last season. (15 appearances in total.) 10 yellows in 38 appearances for Birmingham the year before. There's not been a red card in at least the last 4 years, as far as I can see.1 point

While agree to most of this, would the appropriate question not be: Can they actually back the (respective) gaffer? (Both in terms of having/investing money and "financial fair-play".) In the here and now, it looks very much that Clement will / may only get all the money we rake in from "transfers out", which may very well be a significant sum? Generally ... And, at the end of the day, injuries and freak-refereeing/VARing aside, we pulled them back to one point last season, only to throw it away in 2 weeks. And "it" refers to direct CL qualification and the money that comes with it, without playing a single CL game. Any gaffer has to deliver, and neither of them changed the team in a way that wrought success - i.e. we just toiled along with 4-2-3-1 against any team out there. It beggars belief that people can be so blind/stubborn ...1 point

That was the guestimate quoted in the media at the time but I have been told by someone who would know that we got him effectively for nothing.1 point

Its literally the definition of insanity to keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome . Like it or lump it we need to give Clement and Koppen time to sort out this boards mess , they should have backed Gerrard they didnt , they should have backed Van Bronckhurst with the players he wanted they didnt , they then allowed Beale to go Rogue , we are now coming to see the end of this , we need to back him , we need another central mid , and a striker as well as a proper center half .1 point

No surprise to see Cantwell the next player to be moved on. In May many fans wanted big changes to the squad and the leadership group removed. That is happening (albeit too slowly) and, as per PLG in many ways, it's very much a case of the manager leading the way. Can he deliver and take the players (new and old) with him? FWIW, Cantwell is talented but less so the application. Social media use is his business but when he loses focus because of it and fails to accompany his big claims with big performances then fans will always lose patience. It's a negative pattern for him to change now.1 point
