As much as this had to happen, I take no pleasure in any Rangers manager getting sacked. In fact, I would go as far to say that it makes me pretty sad to be honest. I really liked Clement. He had a certain charm and he seemed like a nice guy but it wasn't to be. Good luck Phil.

At some point we have to get behind an external offer. If the status quo continues, we are going to die a death of a 1000 cuts. The danger we face is being so frightened to move forward that we'll chase away someone / consortium who'll be good for us in the medium to long-term. We simply can't stick with the status quo if we have any ambitions to move our club forward.

If we get Gerrard back then he could bring Beale to coach too.

True enough. My remark was more about him actually trying to do something, rather than the quality of his play. Others were simply "playing along". One just has to look with one open eye to see why this current team, injury-ravaged or not, is simply not clicking. Hagi is being played on the left. He hardly ever played on the left before, is according to his stats an attacking midfielder (95) or right winger (77, of which were 53 with us). Bajrami is being played on the left. He hardly ever played on the left before, is according to his stats an attacking midiflieder (145), or playing centrally (69). Enter Tom Lawrence, whom we primarily played as an AM (34 out of 60), but hardly ever on the left (3) He is according to his stats a left winger (191), who can play through the middle (110, including our 34). Obviously, the right-winger slot is taken up by Cerny (and McCausland, who can actually play on either side), and our prime left wingers, Cortes and Matondo (now off) were injured for ages. While Hagi is versatile enough to whip in enough crosses, Bajrami is obviously not. Both are better more centrally, preferably behind two attackers. Albeit being injured quite often, Lawrence is hardly ever used in his prime role though. Maybe he's been a touch too slow for some, but given that we camp in the opposition half most of the time anyways, spee is not exactly a factor. I do remember that Hagi was getting slaughtered for not being fast enough to be a right winger ... even though "speed" was not really needed. It's not like we were or are playing fast counter attacking football. Being set up with the wrong players filling wrong positions and poor tactics is asking for trouble. It has been the case for the last 9 years now, and we don't have people at the helm able to understand this. Trying the same thing over and over again hoping for a better outcome is sheer stupidity. PC has limited resources in terms of players, and fair enough. But even with a full squad he's not changing things. ... and on a semi-related note: if there is an order to "play out from the back all the time" (even if we crumble under pressure and players are well covered), whoever gave that order should be excorted to Erskine Bridge ...

I understand that you may find it difficult to cope with the result but please be careful with name calling. The forum admin are incredibly strict. Apart from that I don't know why you think I'm defending him. I'm just pointing out that your plan is very silly. Also you need to let go of the fairy tale about the fans being in control. The manager will be changed when the board think it will improve our situation. When it happens it will have nothing to do with some sulking supporters.

I'd also add "no style of play" to that list. At yesterday's game I counted 3 corners where within 3 passes, the ball was back at Butlands feet. Also, Beale was ridiculed for the "horseshoe" passing. Over the last few months, that's all we've done. Ball goes from right to left via the CBs than from left to right via the CBs. Our players go through phases of being "good" then they revert to being woeful - this has to be down to coaching and fitness. Butland - MOTM last week, a liability this week. Tav - finished a season ago but been unable to replace him. Nsiala - see Butland. Has been good then absolutely bullied yesterday. Propper - either really good or really bad. Offered no protection to his young partner yesterday. Jefte - still young but questions over his defensive abilities and not contributing in an attacking sense. Raskin - see Butland. Diomande - see Butland Hagi - wasn't good enough pre-injury, not good enough now. Cerny - been best player this season and whilst wasn't good yesterday you thought if anything was going to happen it would be through him. Not our player. Igamane - bled into the team, took time to settle, played well but in last month looks like that little lost boy again. Dessers - Dessers is Dessers - if he's not scoring he's offering nothing. And as I type this, Clement is still in a job.

To me there are 3 observations about this Rangers team:- 1) no settled CB pairing 2) kent/sima not replaced wide left( Hagi/ Bajrami both not natural wide left players) 3) strikers/CF’s too static when ball being delivered into penalty box. Need more movement upfront

I don't think it really matters who I want - from what I'm hearing the new investors already have a short-list drawn up and they all have / are EPL management experience. Ideally it'll be a manager who has a clear footballing identity / system, who gets the players fit and hungry.

When I first heard of the potential takeover, my first thought was “Why would an American investment company want to buy Rangers, if not for nefarious intentions?”. My negative thoughts were no doubt influenced by the Craig Whyte experience and my experience of takeovers in the workplace. Since the initial reaction, I’ve read and listened to Rangers fans views on the matter. At first it seemed to be that the overwhelming mood was positive but then more doubts were expressed. I still have doubts over this but I’m probably in the minority. The investment fund will be looking at a return. Now this could be brought about by making us successful in Europe where the big money is to be made, more lucrative sponsorship deals, though again exposure in Europe would be required to maximise this and better deals on merchandise etc. I would expect that we will see a hike in ticket prices. I’m sure others can think of other sources of revenue that a clued up board could pursue. But should the European breakthrough not happen, the danger is that other sources of revenue, which we as fans may not be so keen on, will come about. Sale and lease back of Ibrox? Allowing a full stand for Celtic fans? I’m sure there are other aspects which other can think may be detrimental. We as fans take great pride in our history as a club, our traditions. Now overseas investors may take these as positive attributes and build on them. However, they may see them as anachronisms in the modern game and phase them out. If we think at the moment that protests against they way the club is being run is the way to bring about change (and it was successful when the Australian tour was announced), I think any overseas investor will not be moved by such actions. My great fear is that we lose out identity. However part of that is that we are the top team in Scotland and we’re in danger of being left behind in that regard. In conclusion, I don’t know what is the best way forward. All I know is that I’m worried – either way.

Regarding new managers and coaches. Failure at other clubs, big or small, is no real criteria when it comes to us (or any new club). Every club provides a different challenge, has different resources in money and players, has different demands. Sir Walter would probably never be considered by Barcelona or Dortmund, AC Mian or the like. But he knew how to play the game in Scotland, knew what sort of players were required, where and when. If the 49ers send us a ton of nuggets and we get Guardiola and 10 superstars that wipe the floor with everything in Scotland, fine by me. If we get Vinny Jones* and he gets enough hard guys and Scots in who rip themselves a new one to get the results required, fine by me. The current status quo simply can't continue. *You know what I mean.

I well remember being at Ibrox when we got beat 1-0 by Morton, Jim Tolmie scoring the goal. The crowd was 5,000! That led to big changes.

The fact that "poundshop" managers can work out quite easily how to set up against us with mostly "poundshop" players blows apart the theory that we'd be unable to find a manager / coach who would get more out our players.

The problem is that the other poundshop managers have worked out Clements team and know when the chips are down, he's not going to change his game plan, or if he does it will be very late in the day. Those spl teams can smell the fear in the team and know if they getin our faces. We will shrink into ourselves. I'm not sure we can afford to wait to the end if the season or we could end up with more unwelcomed records and a fractured squad with zero confidence.

McAusland and I am not his greatest fan but he would have tried at least.

What disappointed me today was the way Nsiala got bullied at both of their goals. Don’t think Niko Katic ( who wanted a return last month)would have been bullied like that. Just sayin’……😋

Neither up nor down about the news ,the league was done along time ago, we all knew he was going at some point anyway , he was at least ,able to get the players to turn up on Thursday nights. Arse been kicked out of that now. I believe he left by helicopter .

Fucking embarrassing yet again. Clement does not have a clue, any good wins he's had must have been luck or down to poor opposition performance - that's my conclusion now. If we are getting beat off Queens Park and St Mirren, at home, there is a big big problem with the coaching.

In Souttars case I dont think its anything to do with luck , everybody in the country knew he was injury prone when we signed and thats exactly the way its went with him. Surely we should be trying to find another mug to pay something for him . Same goes for all those you mentioned.

Although he's prone to the odd error, I like Souttar but in the same way other players are unreliable fitness wise then it may make sense to replace him if possible. Yilmaz, Sterling, Danilo, Cortes, Lawrence and Balogun all fall into the same camp. We just can't maintain that level of injury; unpredictable, unlucky or not.
