  1. I wont be voting for it, on exactly those grounds. C1872 should be looking at more than just safe standing and offering alternatives for any excess funds that may be available. Shouldn't be a simple "vote yes/no for safe standing" - should be a vote for : 1. Safe standing 2. Improving disabled facilities 3. Retaining excess cash for share issues Point being - it shouldn't be a "take it or leave it" vote. There is more than one thing that could be improved at the Club and I don't believe C1872 should offer up a vote with only 1 suggestion. IMHO of course.

  4. Surely nobody believes singing the Billy boys is a part of the Rangers Heritage. It is a good anthem and it does get the crowd going and I personally like hearing it but to say it is a part of our heritage is pushing the boat out a little. Get rid of the fenian blood and it can be sung again without fear of arrest. Whether rightly or wrongly.

  5. Sensible deal - on loan first to see if he is good enough to buy. Quite interesting signings in January then, Murphy, Cummings and Goss. The first thing Id imagine is they will give 100% and know what the league is like rather than Pena and Herrera.

  6. Very very promising signing. Worth pointing out he doesnt have any real spl experience. Some patience may be required

  8. Seems like it's going to be a fairly productive window. Here's hoping the new lads settle in quick and we stuff the Leith tramps and Sheep.

  9. I think Cummings is a decent addition. For those moaning that the players wouldn’t get into the Celtic team, I don’t think they’d be far off. They aren’t anywhere near as good as the press makes them put to be. None of them are stick out players for me and I don’t think with a bit of development and good management, some of the players we’ve got can’t be better than them. Maybe I’m just being over-optimistic though.

  11. By who’s definition though? If we changed the word from Fenian to Wankers, what’s to stop the definition of Wankers being changed to Catholic, as has happened with Fenian?

  12. It's true that nothing beats "Hullo Hullo" being belted out by 40k fans. What is also true is that football authorities at home & abroad believe it to be unacceptable to sing. That being the case, why not just change the words - remove the parts that the authorities deem to be offensive. If nothing "offensive" is being sung, folk can try & complain, but ultimately there is nothing to complain about..... Remove any religious connotations & make it about The Club....

  13. I must admit I am now getting to really like the change. I love the way when copying an article the foto's come automatically with it. And! I haven't deleted any more threads recently.

  16. That's the thing about the way that C1872 poll the members. They won't be given that as a choice. It will just be a yes or no option on safe standing, with most people not realising that there's a choice of spending it elsewhere or increasing the shareholding, as Bearger highlights above.

  19. Rumor is that it is loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer for 600k. 600k for Cummings is a steal, regardless of his personality - hopefully he has, or will, mature

  21. I take it you've never seen the movie Blazing Saddles mate ? I know how to spell so deliberately used that word. I suspect you are referring to another one previously in common usage and which could be seen in these times as a slur. I assure you I meant no offence to anyone here and would never refer in a derogatory fashion to anyone who is handicapped. Not when I have family in that position. The manks are a bunch of mongos and I make no apology for that statement.

  22. I heard JC is in hospitality at Ibrox tonight, just had a text saying he's turning water into wine for the players. That wont go down to well.

  24. Agreed. My younger brother is mentally handicapped and I have sat behind someone at Ibrox who has referred to my brother as a "full mongo". Fucking disgusting if you ask me. People don't decide to be handicapped. Those who use such words should consider the impact that they have. I do admit that given it personally affects me and can be seen as "sour grapes" I try to refrain from getting involved in such discussion. But thank you Andy... for posting what I was thinking

  27. but the modern/current association of the term is on a religious basis. So, rather than wasting time & effort trying to convince the authorities etc of it's potentially proper meaning.....just remove it altogether. If it's not there, there is no need to debate it's origins or meaning. What significance does that particular word/phrase have to the players on the park??? Are they going to feel less inspired if it is changed to something else??? I think it is time for some to realise that certain battles are just not worth fighting....its time for the lyrics to be updated to something that is more relevant to the team & less divisive across supporters.

  40. Does anyone actually think these songs and messages to the Pontiff at the end of many of the ditties actually enhance the reputation of our club, our city ,our country? If these songs and chants are not offensive would you encourage parents to introduce these phrases and sayings as they are teaching their babies to speak? Does anyone actually think that any of these people from the foreign countries we visit where we stand in their town centers singing about being ‘up to our knees’ and ending with a good Fuck the Pope makes people think ‘Wow that’s impressive I want my children and grandchildren to be associated with that. I want Rangers to be their Scottish team, and I want our local team belting out bigotry like that. We must all go to Scotland for our holidays these people make it sound so welcoming,so open, so tolerant ,so 17th Century. It is an embarrassment ,it as outdated as sending children down the mines,it was once acceptable ,as was drink driving, the world has moved on it is time some in our support did likewise. These songs harm the club you profess to love so much they add nothing to the club but negative opinions and publicity. We have enough people looking to attack us at every turn ,stop giving them easy hits.

  41. Where does Cummings play in our side in your opinion R? To me he is a centre forward, a goalscoring poacher, not a wide forward. He is a good player but is not better than Morelos, so if we are going to continue to play one central striker, I dont see where Cummings fits in? Lets not squeeze him into a wide position or drop him into the 10 slot, because thats not where he does his best work. So for me it's either a twin strike force in a 4-4-2 (or any other shape that results in a -2 at the end) or there is no point buying him. While we need good subs, we certainly need better first team players first.

  42. Great attitude indeed. I think he's young enough to be given more time. I think he's OK technically, but he needs to be better with the physicality, and the 1-on-1's.
