  1. Considering the behaviour of Morelos and Leigh Griffiths on and off the park, anyone would think Griffiths would be the easy pantomime villain for the press. Both are prone to tantrums and immature acts on the park, as well as being good footballers. Off the park, Alfie is married with a kid and does unbelievable charity work with impoverished people in his native land. Off the park, Griffiths is a gambler, a convicted racist, has several kids with several mothers and is an all-round degenerate. ?

  4. Hi Everybody. This is my first post on here. Joined at the beginning of the week. Can I just say what an absolutely fantastic thread this is. Very informative, topical and a fantastic insight into the flagrant hypocrisy of a so called public service broadcaster to serve the licence fee payers of Scotland and beyond with a totally biased anti Rangers agenda. I can endorse Bill's comments above that this thread is one of the reasons I decided to sign up! I have one or two Rangers mates abroad who I "put right"from time to time on certain individuals who work at PQ. All my information has been gleaned from this thread which I really enjoy keeping up to date with. I firmly believe there would be much to gain from trying to spread the word more widely on the corruption, bias and misinformation PQ spread on Rangers FC! Can I convey my thanks to all the great contributers on Gersnet. As well as making some very eloquent and informative posts, I also enjoy the dark humour of many of the posters! Keep up the great work!

  5. Chaps, As long as Craig and Frankie have no concerns for Gersnet. I have no problems with anyone on Gersnet doing what they wish to do with my contributions. The original idea with this thread was to develop a Rangers Tax Case Blog type of thing. It's a testimony, a diary, a collation of information, a collection of quotes, ......................... etc. Overall, it's a reference of the lack of service provided to a section of License Fee payers. I am grateful to a collection of regular Gersnetters over the twelve/thirteen years; Ian, Bill, Buster, Zappa, Compo, ............. etc too many to name. Further, lots more folks than myself have made most valuable contributions, and deserve every credit. In the words of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead".

  6. one thing that last night showed , when we take our foot of the gas and play at a slower tempo we have the same issues we had post split last season . Also though we have numbers in the squad we simply dont have comparable quality , thats why we need players out asap , possibly as many as 8 , and 4 decent signings in , whether or not it happenms god only knows. Lastly and I cant believe i am going to say this as I love the guy , but we would be better off without Alfie the way we are going to play .

  7. The front 3 looked to be a little narrower (as did the pitch weirdly) than last season and interchanged frequently. We were also moving the pall quicker / faster with short passes and 1-2s, none more so for Aribos goal. Whilst Borna got forward as much as usual, Tav appeared more defensive. Not a criticism, just looked a tweak to the formation.

  8. Yup much as expected and as you've said - hammerthowing and packed defence. They did come out a little in 2nd half. Decent performance, decent goals and a decent work out. All positive, Defoe injury apart.

  9. Poor show - should have reached double figures tonight. It'd also be good if we could arrange pre-season games against teams not intent on injuring our players. Aribo was great. Kent's finish was terrific. Motherwell's defence was shite. Steve Davis was rubbish.

  10. While I feel a reluctance to read too much into pre-season friendlies, the other side of that coin is I would probably have been critical and worried if they hadn't impressed. They looked more than competent against top quality in France, and totally overpowering against what finished 3rd in Scotland last season. What more could we ask for.

  11. After our three (televised) pre-season matches, I'm looking forward to this one on Saturday. Will we see a similar starting line-up, resembling our first XI? Will Morelos get off the mark? Will Kent, Barisic and Hagi continue their good form? I hope so (to all three). When I think of Coventry City, the first thing that always springs to mind is the 1987 FA Cup Final and in particular, Cyrille Regis. More recently they've had plenty of problems, including having no ground and Steven Pressley. Their 2 Tone tribute strip a year or so ago was rather fetching. No injuries, another clean sheet and a few goals would be good.

  13. Another possibility but I would absolutely hate for us to be loaning our players to that rancid club.

  14. We can't rule it out, although I reckon it may be the other way round, and DUFC taking a closer look at one or two of our youngsters ahead of potential loan moves. Although we can probably rule out young McPake from that given his loan last year.

  15. You're right, it would be excellent to carry across other platforms so people are welcome to share it elsewhere (with 26th's permission of course). As much as the content is fairly gentle fun-poking, it is quite risque in parts so that (and a busy personal workload) is why I've shied away from publishing the updates regularly on our main site. In that sense it works better as forum posts but I'll perhaps include a promotional link to the thread on our forthcoming new main site (hopefully!) and definitely link to the thread more on Twitter.

  16. It's been apparent for months that Morelos needs to go. He's been great but if we're honest he's never been able to sustain it, whether because of suspensions or simple loss of form. In that respect he's no different from most of the team but the difference is his leaving can generate the funds we need to improve the squad, others can't. He simply must be sold and sold well, while the gloss is still on his Europa League stats.

  17. I suspect we actually need to find two new strikers, the most important requirement being to replace Morelos, who simply has to be sold if we're going to fund a better squad than last season.

  18. As well as the choice of opposition, the timing of this bounce game is questionable as we were short of numbers for the Motherwell game. Just an thought given the above, maybe our recruitment team wanted a close-up view of one (or more) of the DUFC players prior to a bid? Otherwise, time and opposition very questionable. As for Motherwell as opposition, I think we are playing them again next week in a bounce game at Training Centre. May be down to them being "local" so the logistics are easy? If we are to refuse friendlies with clubs that we have a grievance against, or they have hostility against us, it'll be "Blues v Whites" for the foreseeable future ?

  20. I thought he was M'well best player. His decision making let him down a couple of times

  21. One very decent run in the 1st half that maybe should have led to a goal. Tried hard to impress, was always available but like the Motherwell performance, nothing to get overly excited about.

  22. McLaughlin looks a very good shot-stopper. That point-blank save in the second half was outstanding. He's atrocious with his feet, though! (Even Sunderland fans were saying similar - and you wouldn't expect them to be playing out from the back.) Very good deputy, though; very pleased with that signing.

  23. I think they looked good the first half. I think their football was inventive, graceful, and flowing. I also think there was a precipitous drop off in the second half...expected...but the gap is considerable. It's the same team for the most part. We STILL lack quality depth. What depth we have is aging (Davis, Defoe, Arfield). I think they need a few more quality players...MOST importantly, an attacker...I know...easier said than done... I am getting some serious Deja Vu. I can already see the winter wall from here.

  24. Didn’t see the game due to the change in kick off time. Sounds pretty positive. How did Motherwell set up? Did it feel like what they would do in a normal game? I.e. men behind the ball and chucking hammers around?

  25. Fine by me. I stand by the email. Rangers have thrown female supporters under the bus chasing woke points. You cannot promote trans rights without vitiating women’s sex-based rights. Indeed, without vitiating woman as an ontological category. Let’s just call female Rangers fans womxn and be done with it. The leftists will just LOVE it.

  26. I've noticed a couple of differences in the way we're playing. I think it's more of a narrow front three, a la Liverpool, rather than the noticeable 2 in behind Morelos. They're all quite fluid too, which is nice to see. I think the wide midfielders (Kamara, Aribo) are overlapping, which I don't think we saw last season. Is Tavernier sitting deeper? Barasic is high and wide, but Tavernier not so much. Structural change, to defend against the counter? One full back goes, the other stays back, maybe?

  27. So much potential, Kent and Hagi are in the same boat for me, these 3 players have another gear to go up to reach their true ability

  28. Aribo could be a MASSIVE player for us this season. ry impressed with him thus far

  29. You have to wonder why we agreed to play them.

  31. Well, well, it is Rangers by 11 to 4. I imagine that this once in a generation poll will settle the matter for many decades to follow.

  32. Can you not try to find some common ground? This childish back and forth is boring. You can't assume all social media accounts are who they claim to be, but it's also not unreasonable to suggest a minority of Rangers fans will hold questionable views.

  33. Probably a good rule, but clearly, it's a broader problem than the simple examples I gave. Some people are desperate to project meanings onto other people's comments or gestures, when it's obvious (or ought to be) that it wasn't their intention. Goldson takes a knee as a show of support for a campaign against racism. He clearly states what his intentions are. And yet he's still given a hard time for supporting anti-white racism or anti-capitalist revolutionaries. The meaning of his gesture is the meaning he attached to it.

  34. Whilst there were undoubtedly fans of other clubs trolling our players and the club's accounts over this, there was / are undoubtedly also Rangers fans abusing our players. To think otherwise is naive in the extreme.
