The obsession with other clubs and what they do is what's got us into this situation. We had got rid of the offending songs for a while (and the atmosphere didn't suffer because of it and we didn't have to resort to Kum Ba Yah, believe it or not) but they crept back in because some fans could see that Celtic were given free reign. We need to decide ourselves what is and isn't acceptable and not base our standards on what other sub-standard clubs deem is acceptable. Likewise Fare. If it hadn't been them, it would have been someone else. Yes, they're biased but the bigger issue is that we're guilty. Clean up our act and THEN we can concentrate on others.10 points

The UB statement is exactly what I expected from them. No remorse far less an apology from a group who think their the most important thing on match days. One other point if it s correct, the club have never spoken to them about the song sheet. That’s a dereliction of duty by our board.6 points

Hubris and arrogance that'll do the trick eh? Don't be surprised if we reach the group stages to be playing behind closed doors.4 points

I thought Barasic had a solid game throughout, given he was left on his own out on the left for the whole game with nobody helping him. For some reason, obviously tactical from SG, Jones was tucked inside to where there was absolutely no space, and was wholly ineffective. I was crying out for him to go wide (or the anonymous Kamara) and help Barasic all game the same way Arfield & Aribo went out to help Tav on the right. Very strange tactics. in a game devoid of creativity, the free kick was a piece of pure class and deserving of MOTM on its own. MOTM is usually given to the player who ensured the win, either through goals or outstanding play. Barasic nailed the former and nobody nailed the latter. Jack had a good game again, but given how deep Saints sat, he had 60 yards to carry the ball unopposed every time but couldn’t find that one telling pass to open them up. Was never going to be a game for Jones so his inclusion surprised me ahead of Stewart,Hastie & Ojo (didn’t know he had a knock), and I thought we were about to try Morelos and Defoe together before we got the goal. Maybe not! overall delighted with the 3 points, and we go into the first OF game level and with home advantage, which is exactly what we all wanted when the fixtures came out.3 points

On another point , this is exactly the type of game NOT to play JJ in , no space at all , but the management team knows best .3 points

The club should monitor that part of the ground and if these songs are confirmed to come from there then close that part of the ground for 4 games. If it continues, rescind all STs and replace from the waiting list. Some innocent people will suffer, so what. Big picture time.2 points

The club have continually stressed the issue about sectarian singing over the past 10 years. Are they trying to suggest that they weren't aware of this or will they only listen if it's addressed to them personally? Either way, it's not an excuse.2 points

Our supporters were 5 star today, no reason why we can’t create an incredible atmosphere on Thursday, without the other stuff.2 points

The media obsession with Rangers and catholics is a bit pathetic. They're so out of date. Catholics in Scotland no longer bring thoughts of dissident terrorists in Ireland. Similarly, orange strips are just that - orange - and only generate thoughts of protestantism in the heads of media people. These days, catholicism is more usually associated with child abuse, sexual deviancy and political corruption. If only our media could bring themselves up to date on that.2 points

It annoys my old man.. “Whit’s that Connor Goldstein dain crossin himself, I thought he was Jewish” he said after the Kilmarnock game ?2 points

St Mirren tactics very effective but man, how brutal was that to watch. They had 11 behind the ball until the final 10 minutes.. and yet, strangely, had a couple of half chances. These are the games we struggle in so to get 3 points is all that matters to us. The performance was fine, looked in little danger... but it’s very, very difficult to create chances against a 10 man wall. What we would give for an Albertz right now2 points
-
I personally have nothing against St Mirren, and I'm sure they will be ok this season , however surely to god there must be a small amount of desire to do more , hoping your still in the game with 10 mins to go then coming out is brutal .2 points

The only answer is for Rangers to stop accepting ANY tickets for away games.2 points

Agreed, it is our own fans that are damaging the club and need to wake up or we will see the corrupt SFA start docking points from us. Ref Kumbaya, just a wee bit of light hearted bit of humour?. As for other clubs, Separate Entity FC, I think the facts should always be highlighted, no obsession from me, just double standards that should be kept alive, IMO.2 points

Good to see Helander getting a start. Naturally it was Katic who made way for him .... Goldson is a god after all ?2 points

This could be the last stand for Borna Barisic. If he turns in another display of passing backwards and hiding on the touchline then he needs to go.2 points

Even if they did visit the Piggery you can bet that their hearing would be very selective. These people want nothing more than us to be thrown out of European competition and hamstrung so that we are nothing more than a cash cow to Scottish football but never able to compete for honours. Their agenda is twisted but the sad thing is that some of our fans are complicit in giving them exactly what they want. We have to be smarter than we have been. This is a sea-change moment, as important as the day Souness signed Mo Johnstone in terms of how our club is going to be perceived. None of us can envisage going back to what the club did with regard to signings in the 1980's because we have seen where that change has taken us and the fnatastic players we have had (who just happened to have been catholic but who totally bought into the spirit of Rangers) since then. Dropping TBB and others from the the songbook and focusing on supporting the team properly leads us forward and will actually piss off FARE, the Green Brigade and the BBC a whole lot more than if we just sit in our bunker and continue to hand them the ammunition to really hurt us.2 points

What we need is a supporters organisation worthy of the name, not some quasi-corporate equity platform.2 points

...................the statement they should have made was an apology for embarrassing the club and jeopardising our EL chances. They were caught red handed and they offer their child like attempts to blame everyone else.1 point
-
The UB statement is typically childlike and shallow. They wallow in self-pity and blame everyone except themselves. The clear implication seems to be "we're special, why is no one rushing to say so?" My view is that if this is how they approach this issue we'd be better off without them. I won't miss them or their songs.1 point
-
That’s what they said in their statement - and yes although the club shouldn’t necessarily have to address the songbook with them personally - it might have made a difference if they had. (For the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever)1 point
-
I won’t comment on the singing, but it seems like it is going to be a thing now that TV is going to show slow motion replays every time a Rangers player crosses himself. Which does highlight how ridiculous the whole thing is, I suppose..1 point

I was actually wondering why Borna Barisic was still on the park and then he did that. Great goal but his overall contribution today was pretty poor. It wasn't our best performance but I thought Tav continued to improve and Helander did well, while Scott Arfield showed good invention around the penalty area. However, at the risk of sounding like a stuck needle on a broken record, the best player on the park yet again was ... Ryan Jack.1 point

Plus that goal was a thing of beauty , delighted for big Borna.1 point

DId the commentator just say that's only the second goal St Mirren have conceded this season? No wonder, if true.1 point

The away support was - IMHO - the main "offenders", as throughout our way back, it was them who brought to unwanted songs back ... until they became acceptable at Ibrox again. It could become quite a problem "controlling" these chaps and their agenda. Fan-stewards and supporters clubs only might be a start.1 point

The easiest way to find out is simply checking wikipedia or the lexicon of your choice. Same for racism. Language will not appear ... else we Germans would not regard the Bavarians as Germans. The whole thing is a hydra with many heads, all need to be tackled. - supporters need to see that singing TBB and any add-ons of the FTP variety will be regarded as offensive, sectarian or discriminatory. These songs et al have to stop - for the time being. If need be, the hardcore element shall view this as a ceasefire till we actually get any serious and usable information on the matter. At the end of the day, this has nothing to do with freedom of speech or the like, if you enter Ibrox with your ticket in hand, you agree to the house rules which are set by the landlord. Obviously, common sense should make these people refrain from harming our club. What happens on away days like today is another matter though. Here you would have to rely on things like fan-stewards, who, if need be, need to weed out the hardcore singers. Likewise, it should be made clear to the authorities that weeding these things out is not a thing of days or weeks ... and punishments - if any - need to be made against all offenders, not just us. THIS is actually the main job for the Supporters Liaison Officer. Get the fans and the club together and find solutions. - FARE ... should be questioned and UEFA need to be made aware of their stance and background. Therefore, someone from our support needs to contact UEFA, as FARE`s warped image of racism and sectarianism is blatant for anyone willing to see. - the days of mumbo-jumbo need to end. Everyone with a keyboard can whip up stuff about what is ssectarian or racist or whatnot, to his or her heart`s content. Thus, it needs to be made clear which songs are regarded as offensive by Rangers ... and Rangers alone. We need some legs to stand upon and if the club says: stop TBB and any FTP addons, but give BMG, Derry`s Walls and We`re coming down the road with all barrells, we have something to work with. Else it will continue that others, and mainly agenda driven people will a) tell us what is offensive and b) go to UEFA and cry foul, citing songs which are all but racist or even sectarian. UEFA will not double check this, as they have enough to do counting their CL and EL money. If we have a No-No-Songbook, both club and support can tackle any attacks, fines or penalties. THIS is actually ANOTHER job for the Supporters Liaison Officer. Get the fans and the club together and find solutions. - Them. How come that we get a stand closed after years of inactivity by UEFA? Whereas they get away with all sorts of wrongdoings, from political displays, attacking opposition players, and continually singing their IRAoke? How come that FARE is nowhere to be seen when the chant FTQ or hail hail terrorists? Want to see us dead. How come UEFA does not react to that? It is ominously quiet both here and on FF once I suggest that we should also ask for help or at least oppinions from British institutions, like the Ministry of Defence, Justice and the Home Office regarding the anti-British behaviour at the Scumhut, the unlawful pro-terrorist chanting. Did the Orange Order actually say a single word regarding the hanging of the blow-up dolls? - Tackle media campaigns. Be it ridiculous rubbish from Stewart or articles like McConnell`s in the Herald, who not once mentioned her beloved Hooped Horrors. The pendulum swing gloriously in one direction and the club seemingly looks at it like the bunny at the snake. This is not on. Journalists are not propaganda tools of people with agendas ... and if they behave as such, they and it need to be named and shamed. ... all this just for starters.1 point
-
I hope the team put all this shut behind them. Let’s also hope the fans are in full voice with songs that are positive, and can’t be construed as sectarian or racist. I can’t wait for this week, let’s shut them all up by winning on the park!1 point

On the contrary, the answer is incredibly simple. The problem is persuading people to implement it.1 point

Sorry GS but Taylor is way below the standard that we need , plus he’s far too small for the top level and Europe , I really hope they waste serious money on him .1 point
