When I saw the starting XI I feared the worst. No recognised striker / centre forward for starters. We couldn’t keep hold of the ball up front. no offence to StevenDavis but he’s past his best now. Second best to everything tonight. And I wonder how our gaffer now feels after slaughtering Katic last weekend. Edmundson had a howler tonight. Finally would the Rangers board please stop handing out new contracts to management & players who haven’t won anything4 points

I hope he doesn't. He's brought so much in his time with us. But he does have a lot still to learn and I fear he doesn't have anyone around him to learn it from. This isn't the EPL. Souness had Walter, Gerrard doesn't. I will be mortified if this good man leaves.3 points

All our players and Gerrard we're going mental but nothing going. Even Collum, who assured a yellow card for Ryan Jack, didn't want to change the decision. MacLean is a coward, simple as that.3 points

Discipline issue - reported back late from time off in Columbia. That's cleared it up so let's move on and win this game3 points

There is no reason for him to walk he isn't the first manager at our club to suffer bad results its time for him to dig in and get it fixed .2 points

Not right now but they had it in spades in November and December with the highlight the win at the Piggery. The players can be good enough when they want to play but they just aren't doing it with any consistency or desire to actually win something. It's like they think they climbed the mountain when we beat Celtic at their place when all that meant was that we had drawn level but we needed to focus and stay ahead. They had the best chance any Rangers team has had in years and they have blown it within 2 months. I can't even begin to fathom how a team goes from heroes to zeros that fast. And I bet SG is wondering the same.2 points

I didn't manage to see the game tonight but don't need to to know what the problems are with this schizophrenic Rangers team . Without a doubt we are short of quality backup. Morelos, our outstanding player who can win matches single handedly, has been looking for a while like he's going through the motions. Defensive frailties have cost us dear too. Every combination has been tried and they just aren't good enough and I include Goldson in that. We don't have a single leader on the park. We've done well in Europe because we've got the space to play. This team doesn't have the heart for the domestic game.2 points

Two players that would have given 100% are on loan in Docherty and Murphy. We are using Ojo and a midfield that looks dreadful while these two excel on loan. We also seem like a rudderless ship without a leader. Nobody want to take control on or off the park. Make no mistake that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen. It was void of everything required in a Rangers player.2 points

It's an understandable point but I agree with Compo. I would have played him then dealt with it after the game. His physicality would have given us something to aim at. Then SG could have made his point by dropping him for the midweek v Hamilton at Ibrox.2 points

The manager has to take some of the blame, however it's the players who are letting him and the fans down! the players application is the reason we lost the match, and threw away the league. FWIW, I couldn't give a flying fuck about the EL matches now, it has always been a bonus! they have bottled the domestic challenge and it's only February!2 points

There's no point blaming individuals - it's all of them. But they're not bad players.2 points
-
No, the problem is we can't match them so our players have chucked it. Not to mention the manager doesn't know what how to deal with it either. As bad a performance as I've ever seen from us. No shape, no focal point, no hunger, no belief and no bottle. Atrocious and the manager must explain himself.2 points

What concerns me is that Davis should be taken off but the only plausible replacement is Kamara. How can these players all be so off form at the same time?2 points

As far as I can see there’s no traction at all in Scotland and no sign of it starting any time soon. Far too many people covering far too many backs, all complicit, all mutually dependent on not rocking this particular boat.2 points

A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. Donalda MacKinnon, Director of BBC Scotland has announced her intention to resign in the coming Autumn. She will have held the post for less than four years. Donalda lasted five years as Chair of St Aloysius PTA. The launch of BBC Scotland's second channel cost £32 million and Donalda was wholly positive on the opportunities available, the improvement on skills 'levels, and the application of Scotland's voice in a most competitive market. One of her biggest cheerleaders, DrStu' added support, welcoming a new, modern Scotland having the maturity to put it's own spin on world events. A year down the line, and the channel has quietly submerged. Initial viewing figures were poor, and have steadily decreased. Seventeen shows registered zero viewing figures. The tide is high, and Donalda is not holding on. She has decided to push off into the Clyde on a Pedalo, going with the flow. Job done? Donalda and her Cheerleaders gave notice today, the workers on the new channel have their jobs guaranteed for the next year. I believe a number signed up on three - four year contracts. DrStu' and Eammon O'Neill announced their new Media Review show, the Big Light will be presented by Podcast. DrStu' remains for Off the Ball because the exposure is most necessary, but half an eye remains on the Pedalo's five remaining seats. Staffers are safe for now, Freelancers have been the Pirates. Raiding a few slices from the £32 million dripping roast helps with the school fees, the community fees on foreign properties, and the initial capital outlays for the next projects. I note one of the constant complaints about the channel's flagship shows, 'the Nine' and 'the Seven' was the insistence on the Presenters wearing jeans and trainers. I propose FlowJob, the Drag Artist that read a story to Primary 1 pupils at Glencoat Primary School in Paisley with the assistance of Mhairi Black MP, should take over presenting duties? At least, she would insist on wearing a better pair of shoes. Him/Her, and Michael Stewart would be perfect together, competing for custodial rights to the Fisting Glove. Yep, Michael is back and DrStu' is cock a hoop, it's his preferred combination. Less well publicised was OfCom kicking-out ra Sellik's complaint on Sky TV's interview with Alfredo Morelos. Quietly, on Monday night the broadcast thoughts of DrStu looking forward immensely to OfCom publishing all the names and revealing the subterfuge; were stymied by a refusal to accept a complaint. One committee torpedoes hopes, another, the SFA Disciplinary blows your ballast. James Keatings has his red card overturned and more shite floats to the surface. Michael Stewart tweeted on the Rangers 18 year old player smiling as the Inverness player was sent off? He wanted the colt player done. What is it with prominent Nationalists abusing teenagers by text? Talking of nationalism, on Saturday Tam and DrStu' had Andrew Wilson on as a guest. A former SNP MSP and Director of Motherwell. He was far more subtle than Michael, obviously a more careful hater of the H-u-ns. Despairing of the current state of Scotland's ability to produce decent youth players, he found fault with the old firm on three separate occasions. He acknowledged both old firm clubs had their own legitimate concerns to pursue, but each time he provided an example of the problem. Everyone of those examples was a Motherwell youth being stymied in his development by leaving for Rangers. He named both Miller and Hastie. Another problem in Scottish football laid at Rangers door, without counter argument. Now, I hope no Rangers supporter takes the literal interpretation. I mean we do not want the repetition of Michael Stewart pointing the finger at James Traynor and the former Journo being bricked in the face a week later. PQ's re-hiring of Freelancer, Michael Stewart is because he is a willing useful idiot with lots more fingers to point. When Donalda's Pedalo leaves the slip, let's hope Rangers supporters line the Quay and provide her with a Viking funeral. Those Danes know how to administer a finish.2 points

Absolutely right. All he has to do is ask and we'll back him. But I don't think the same goes for some of our players who are clearly finished at Rangers now.1 point

All seems to be lost barring a series of fluke results so time to get ready for the next shot. Recall Docherty, tell him him he’s in the team no matter what and see what happens. He’s not a great footballer, his first touch and passing are poor. Harry Davis wasn’t a great footballer either but he held the ring for the artists to do their stuff. I’d gamble more and make him captain1 point

I’m flabbergasted it’s come to this two days ago I said we should stick with them, at moment I’d wring every one of their fucking necks1 point

Talking about Walter Smith, does anyone think those players would have thrown in the towel like that if Walter had been in charge. Sometimes it's less about management and more about leadership. We certainly have no leadership on the pitch and I've a growing realisation that we don't have enough leadership off it, either in the dugout or the boardroom. We seem to be merely treading water.1 point

In normal circumstances if we had another striker able to play tonight from the start I would agree with you Cammy but we were hamstrung (figuratively) tonight by lack of other personnel. Gerrard's decision has effectively thrown away an option that would have given us a focal point at least against Hearts. If Alfie had put in another disinterested performance then it wouldn't have been SG's fault. As it was that decision robbed us of any real physical presence up front until we had to start chucking the centre halfs up in desperation at the end. I agree about Naismith. He had a fire in his belly tonight and I wish any one of our players had shown a fraction of his desire.1 point

Not dealing with it now would have led to calls of SG being weak and having favourites. Players know the rules, the club were good enough to give AM time off, least he could have done was repay this with coming back on time.1 point
-
Yeah it's not like Alfie had to learn how to fit in with a set plan and didn't do it because he turned up late. On the showing tonight there was no fucking plan in the first place. Given the needs of the game and getting result and the obvious lack of other options I think Gerrard made a seriously bad call. Deal with your displeasure after the game. Use the only asset you have that can stand up to Hearts physically.1 point

Where do we go from here? How do you pick up the pieces after that? It’s a complete collective failure.1 point

Hearts have had a two week break, when we have that the excuse is used because of the break!. Hearts are pish, they have only won two games under their new manager, both v Rangers. Embarrassing1 point

Our control of the ball in midfield is so poor it wouldn't matter who was playing up front. If you can't deliver the ball to your striker you'd be as well giving him a cup of tea and a sofa.1 point

It's getting ridiculous now with these refs! the club have to do something!. BTW we are playing shite and again we don't deserve anything, so far!1 point

No but they should be a man down. That was deliberate handball and a second yellow.1 point

I think that the manager has to go with his strongest team today. Getting knocked out of the cup would have a really bad effect on our season. Better to play the best team and avoid any risk of that happening.1 point

Nowhere near enough is the simple answer. If Scottish press can't smell Celtic's blood in the water over this then what fucking use are they?1 point

Free the Copenhagen Two! Come on Humza, I know you are hurting after last night's delicious victory for the Danes, but to do opposition players/coaches for celebrating in front of their own fans. You sit in the comfy green leather heated seats in the North Stand, you witnessed the incident, intervene and tell PC Yahoo-Plod to wind his neck in.1 point

Call me cynical, but I wonder whether the term "Old Firm" will be used more often than "Celtic" ... as it is something that reflects negatively on them. The important aspect of child abuse aside (as it IMHO needs no explanation how we all feel about it), given the way other countries have dealt with it, even "the English", it is utterly shameful how the topic is being handled in Scotland by those in power at nigh all strata of society, media and politics. One need not go into the paranoic depths of talking about a Catholic / Celtic Conspiracy, but seemingly one "does not speak about the Fight Club", whether being directly involved or thriving in its environment.1 point
