Or knuckle down, train hard, apply themselves and get back to last season's levels.4 points

I’m going to stick my neck out here. From what I’ve read to date, I do not expect anyone to agree with me😊. I do not think that yesterday’s result was inevitable. A few weeks ago it was being said that our performance against Motherwell was the most complete performance of the year. Against Ross County, we played well and won easily. I know these are hardly world beating teams we were playing against but neither are Hibs. Because we are so inconsistent, it’s hit and miss whether we’ll get a good performance or not so talk of inevitability of being beaten by Hibs side… well I just don’t agree. From past performances, the most likely outcome was to not play particularly well but to eventually come out on top. That’s how we are top of the league. Because of the inconsistency, we could just as easily have blown Hibs away or, as turned out, gifted them the game. If (big if!) we can address the inconsistency, we will have little to fear. I think it was at 2-0 and another looping cross came in to the box, but it landed inside the 6 yard line and there was a bit of a stramash which we got away with. McGregor could have taken a step off his line and done something, anything to clear it. It might even have hit off him if he'd just come off his line but he didn't bother and we were lucky to get away with it. I don't know if its a confidence thing or not, but he needs dropped. And I know I'm old fashioned, but the amount of rotating we did this season with him and McLaughlin seemed nuts given the sort of goals we were conceding. We got away with it last season but I've no idea why Gerrard did it this season.4 points

For a team that's conceded the first goal in each of its last 6 games, it might be an idea to either play more defensive fullbacks or add more cover for them from midfield. We can't go on allowing easy crosses into our goal area and leaving our two central defenders so exposed to counter attacking forwards. Yesterday was a tactical failure more than individual failures in defence.3 points

I know what you mean, but I don't regard it as a 'free hit', and contend that we need both a performance and a result on Thursday. Playing badly, regularly, often begets expecting to play badly; losing, regularly, certainly begets expecting to lose. I don't know how he will manage to engineer a win, with a decent showing, , because we have seen gey few creditable performances this season. We have scraped victories, in a number of matches, where we have played total dogshit, or slightly above it. I would 'take' a result, actually, irrespective of quality of play, on the off chance that it kick starts a revival of confidence and form.3 points

I hope that he learned enough from those 90 minutes at Hampden to enable us to make a fist of the fixture on Thursday night. Note that I am neither holding my breath, nor investing any money on that proposition.3 points

It is with the heaviest of hearts (!), and with no pleasure whatsoever, that I say, 'I told you so'. On the positive side: what does not kill us makes us stronger; now, the only way is up.3 points

Apparently his work permit was ready yesterday but he choose to remain in the stands. That's according to Kevin Thomson3 points

Over reaction? Dont think so. Davis should have retired at the end of the season as should mcgegor. Our defence is an absolute shambles and good luck to anyone who thinks they will suddenly get better. As i said earlier there are first team picks that have ran their course at the club and they need to move on. Were not going to get better trying the same thing week after week hoping things click. It just not going to happen.2 points

I liked that he wanted to address the players collectively and give his thoughts on yesterday, rather than get drawn into a frenzy through the media. And a fresh start for everyone. If you're good enough, you're old enough, etc. No more favourites who play regardless of form. I think we needed to hear some of that right now.2 points

roll on Thursday to we see what the new manager puts out to keep the fans happy2 points

So by the sound of it, no Neil McCann for the time being.2 points

You could have added McLaughlin for McGregor, Bassey for Barisic, Lundstram for Kamara, Jack for Davis and Wright for Kent.2 points

He's played well for Scotland when he's played. A goal and an assist in his last game shows he's in form. He's played well for us when played as well. His deliveries are more consistent than Tav's. I fail to see the point you're making about mistakes. There were plenty on show yesterday, which shows that the players picked are not on form, so why not pick someone who is?2 points

To put a positive spin on things, going forward into a difficult month of fixtures, I think it might be a good thing if GvB can make us solid and difficult to beat, so we can get through this month without dropping too many points. Make us difficult to beat, and rely on our superior quality, which we undoubtedly have (I don't know where it is, but it's there! Somewhere... surely?!), to get the points. However, I'm not sure how quickly he can implement his style? We don't have much time.2 points

First goal McGregor has to come off his line and clear by either catching or punching, when he doesn't he has to at least come off line and block the shot. Second Tavernier has to step up and play Boyle offside or at least make a better effort blocking his shot. Third Davis makes a stupid challenge and it was a penalty.2 points

I don’t think Davis intended to play as often this season but Ryan Jack was out longer than expected & Lundstrom has struggled at times. Ive been saying all season McGregor is finished & has been costing us goals. And this has played its part in unsettling our defence behind a shaky keeper1 point

There was nothing in that press conference that informed anyone, nor should we have expected any surprises. What we need to see are tangible changes in the team and tactics that make tomorrow look a better bet than today.1 point

A wholesale clear-out isn't going to happen. Hopefully GvB can sort a few of them out, pronto.1 point

Heard it all before just get that team out there playing attractive winning football ,play with a bit of style instead of like shot shy robots ⚽1 point

Sweeper maybe, no. Edit to say that although a sweeper is "technically" classed as a centreback imho he is more gifted type player than your rigid over 6ft types, someone possibly like Ryan Jack, a ball player.1 point

Arfield for me quietly went about his business and composed at goal. Aribo second but ran into too many blind corners.1 point

I thought Aribo at least tried to create things. Hagi and Wright were the only two who looked like they were up for it, when they come on.1 point

Eventually, mon brave, eventually. I concede that there may be some more purgatorial humblings to come, although, surely, only one can be worse than the ignominy of yesterday. .1 point

Yes. And then take the first peanuts offer that comes in for him. We're not getting £5M for him now. Or sack him. And, of course, anyone that hasn't been around the first team in a while is the messiah. We're like that...1 point

If it's any consolation...Sparta got cuffed 4-0 at the weekend and have key players missing.1 point

To be honest, I had written off Europe when we lost to Malmo. The League is the most important.1 point

I have absolute faith that GvB will correct the defensive frailties, but I do worry about the offensive side of things, and tactically. From what I've read, he's quite bland and conservative. My optimism is based on a faint hope that GvB's learnt something from Pep in those 5 months.1 point

That's true too. I've been saying it all season. Gerrard out?1 point

Gio is known to play 4-3-3 but with 2 "real" wingers. As for reverting to 3 at the back, we are struggling to find 2 decent centre halves, nevermind 3......1 point

Not forcing to their goalie make a save in the 2nd half was a worry for me. We had 70% possession but ultimately did heehaw with it. At least if their keeper has a MOTM performance (like Foster did a few years back) you can at least say we were unlucky. Today we were just poor.1 point

Today's result was more than disappointing, it was an embarrassment and as I said above, the players should hang their head in shame. The League Final we lost 1-0 to a Celtics couple years back was a dissapoitment, a game where we played really well but lost. The manner of today's defeat is worrying. The manner some of the senior players have reacted to this defeat is worrying. The fact we have a goalkeeper who appears unable to make even a simple save is worrying. Letting the B Team staff take a cup semi final was baffling, given their inability to outthink coaches of the mighty Bo'ness United, Dalbeatie Star, Cumbernauld, etc is worrying. I can (grudgingly) accept defeat if the players are honest and play to their abilities, today, they were an embarrassment to themselves, the club and the fans.1 point

I think some of us need to chill a bit. Today’s result was disappointing but at least the new manager got a good idea where many of our problems now lie. Unlike last season we now concede too many cheap goals.Today I thought our goalkeeper looked guilty for the first two but other weeks others have been guilty too of defensive mistakes. This needs sorted out. The new manager will make changes. Players will leave & his players will come in. I’m confident this will turn quickly. I thought Gerrard had overstayed his time here & this was a big factor of our poor thorn this season1 point

Gios first job is to find out who has the guts for the fight. Those that don't, feck off and don't let the door hit your arses on way out. To all those Rangers fans who left Hampden today after Hibs 3 goal, ask yourselves the same question.1 point
