I was happy we signed him but he has surpassed my expectations. The kind of striker you want in your side - effort and takes a chance. Reckon he'll get a lot of goals for us.7 points

I was of the mind that Rangers had never played at Anfield. I looked it up and found we have played an FA Cup tie against Everton on the ground in 1886, we won 1-0. I was NOT in attendance that day, I had a Band of Hope meeting.5 points

Has to be Eintracht Frankfurt and Sevilla from Pots 1 and 2 for certain...5 points

Just watched back the highlights for the first time. Colak played a huge part in forcing the error for the goal. He pressed their centre back hard, when there was no need to, and that forced him to play a rushed pass back to the keeper and he kept pressing, this gave Tillman the chance to press with him and nick the ball, Colak was where he was purely due to incredibly hard work and excellent stamina an hour into a game in 28 degree heat. Alfredo has advantages but his pressing has long frustrated me in Europe, especially when we aren't right on top of them, he doesn't have the stamina or pace to do what Colak did there. These are things that are hard to measure but pressure on centre backs interrupts their build-up, stops them being able to take their time to pick accurate long passes forward, and occasionally forces mistakes. Yes it was a mistake but it's laughable the way Celtic fans make out PSV simply gifted us the goal, this mistake was forced by some excellent pressing from two players, and Colak in particular who instigated the whole thing.4 points

Aye but that squeaky wee twit Liam MacLeod said they were all over us and had enough chances to win two or three matches, on BBC radio last night. I'm sure @26th of foot will provide a more eloquent review of the broadcast at some point. Their pain pleases me greatly.4 points

I am bursting with pride this morning and can't keep the smile of my face. I thought we were 50/50 but we were better than that. As for that youtube video pure joy and passion. If anyone wondered about the commitment of that team and the management it is all there.4 points

If this draw goes on for another 30 minutes it’ll be the longest Celtic have lasted in Europe since 2003.3 points

While we are waiting, here`s Colak`s goal again ... https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/video/0278-15f261c96cf0-1389a379ff5f-1000--antonio-colak-s-winner-for-rangers/3 points

James Sands has an air of Carlos Cuellar about him. I can think of no greater compliment.3 points

So, £18m guaranteed from CL participation with a conservative £8m from results and ticket sales. I'd imagine we've made around £2-4m from the two qualifiers so far so possibly around £30m give or take by the start of December.3 points

A Barry Ferguson type player would give this squad the confidence to climb several rungs up the ladder. We have a solid group of lads but I feel we're missing that swaggering midfield general who doesn't need to be asked twice or at half time to put a game to bed or chase the trespassers out of the middle of the park.3 points

It's amazing to think about the standard of player we were looking at just a couple of years ago and now we're bringing in forwards from Bayern Munich and heading for the CL. I'm trying to take it all in.3 points

Think I'm going to need a bigger net! What a result tonight! There was a point that I never Thought I'd see this again in my lifetime. I don't think it's sunk in yet how big this is for the club. Gio seems to have the measure of the European scene. He's pulled some fantastic results out the bag and i think there will be more to come. We're not even firing on all cylinders either. The hibs result had taken the wind out our sails but hopefully this is the boost we need to kick start our season. It is also amazing what you can achieve without the weight of an SPFL referee hanging round your neck3 points

That clip of Gio & Coaching team says it all for me. Lets not forget that PSV got a bit of a sore tactical lesson from us tonight. From the minute we scored RVN looked at a loss to turn the game. He appeared to take the "headless chicken" approach by throwing on a load of subs none of whom made much impact. We really did control the final stages of the game. Apart from a couple of sloppy passes from Wright and Kent, they barely laid a glove. Total flat response from their fans as well. Well done to Gio & staff. A EL final and CL group stage qualification in just over 3 months is MASSIVE. Many Congratulations Rangers!3 points

I thought replacing Alfie would be impossible but Colak is more disciplined. Different but in a good way.3 points

This is really perceptive. I remember a while ago a continental manager talking about 'pressing' and how the trick is knowing when to do it. His point being that no side can do it all the time, it takes too much energy and good sides pick when to do it. As DMAA has said we created the mistake, first Laurence closes down the blonde fullback, Kamara closes out his forward pass so he's forced to pass back to the centre half, Colak then closes the centre half forcing the pass to keeper, the only pass available as Kent and Tillman have moved up stopping a pass to the other centre back. The keeper should have punted it but he needed a touch because of the hurried pass to him and as Colak was sprinting onto him he had only one possible pass. Everyone knows what happened next. But DMAA is right, this was no accident, it was tactical and done really well, something I didn't fully appreciate watching the game live.2 points

UEFA has a nice picture on their website for the respective pots. I guess the Yahoos won`t like it ... https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0278-15f376ebc327-0c4b38261a3a-1000--champions-league-group-stage-draw-pot-4/2 points

To be fair, was hard to split them - Goldson was colossal the last half hour when PSV were throwing the ball into the box at every attempt2 points

Even if he IS considered a midfielder, I suspect that he is going to get much more game time at CB than he would in midfield. Not only that, but he loves making vertical passes through the lines. Passes like a midfielder but can actually defend like a CB. And surprisingly good in the air defensively. I think that CB position is his to lose now, even when Davies/Souttar/Helander are fit again.2 points

It's on the BT Sports highlights here: At the time I thought he was a yard off but looks like Tav played him on.2 points

Add to that how well he conducted himself in his post match interview, very professional and unbecoming of a goalkeeper. 🙂2 points

McLaughlin was my second choice for MotM. The save in the second half when the player was put in on goal (I initially thought it was offside but it wasn't) was top, top class. Aside from that he controlled his area well and you can see his confidence growing.2 points

MoJo, 9 in a Row, Lovenkrands Cup Final, Helicopter Sunday, Manchester and our demotion followed by 55, Seville and now a return to the CL - their pain is continual and I love it!2 points

I'd suggest we need a proper central midfielder at the very least as I'm not sure we can rely on Ryan Jack any more. Lundstram has done fairly well over the piece and we all know the qualities of Kamara and Davis but I'd like to see us really strengthen there. The future of Morelos is also relevant and with Colak doing well then perhaps the money we need to spend might not be huge but we do need another striker. It's going to be an interesting week!2 points

I’m a wee bit annoyed that we have to wait until 5pm (likely 5.30pm) for the draw, not what we were used to with the Europa League. What a great thing to be annoyed about today 😀2 points

Hard to disagree. Seems like he’s a good team man too; putting in a shift and making himself a menace.2 points

Sands reading of the game was fantastic. He made so many blocks and interceptions. He was also excellent on the ball and made a lot of good forward passes that started off moves. Very exciting to see him perform so well at that level.2 points

Just three months ago we were all in despair but this team, this fucking team, once again show incredible desire and belief to qualify for the Champions League group stage against all odds. Take a bow every single player. Well deserved and heroes to a man!2 points

There are so many positions that I thought we'd filled, but it still looks like we're short. A new GK would be useful, but we're covered. At LB we do have Red Van, who's looking like he'll be taking a while to get up to speed. We're short at CB, but I have been advocating for Sands in that position for a while. We've got Davies too, along with Souttar and King. We needed a Right-winger, which Matondo looked like the answer, but again, he's taking a while to get up to speed. All the above positions we technically have the cover for. I wouldn't mind getting an #8, though. A box-to-box player, who can graft and make good movements in the final third - a younger Arfield. I would also like an inside forward to play on the right and as cover/competition for the striker position.1 point

Remember you get pounds for points, too. So a nice soft group would be the business. (Euros, ok, Ah ken).1 point

Regarding the cash pot we will make and have made more than the scum as we have income from the qualifying rounds.1 point

I would assume that Sands and Tillman deals will be done ASAP, i.e. at the end of the year and season respectively. Both had a great game, but Sands was immense, my MOTM.1 point
