  1. Huge achievement in Europe, undoubtedly one of the best so far. However, we haven't won anything yet so I prefer to not talk about how good this team is until we can reflect back on things. It will go down as a season of missed opportunity if we win nothing, and decent season if we win the Scottish cup and one of our best ever seasons if we win both cups. So a lot riding on two games 🤞😬

  2. It's nice to see King get a start. I was hoping for Lowry, too, though.

  5. I suspect I have related this tale on Gersnet before? Nuremberg'67 arrived after the horror of Berwick Rangers. Rangers Chairman, John Lawrence demanded scapegoats and, Jim Forrest, George McLean and, Alec Willoughby were all transferred out of the club. Scot Symon was desperate to find a striker. In those days, Rangers had a third eleven that played in the Combination League, youngsters were toughened, injured older players got a run out, Mr Trialist and Newman appeared regularly against Rolls Royce, Weirs Pumps, ........... etc. Eight or nine days before the ECWC Final, Rangers thirds were due to play Glasgow Corporation Transport ie a team of bus drivers, bus conductors, mechanics, underground personnel, ............... etc. The game took place at Helenvale Park in Parkhead. Rangers fielded a side with Roger Hynd at centre forward, he scored six goals in a 2-8 victory. Scot Symon had found his striker the next week? True story.

  6. If this was the best Rangers team ever, we would have had the League Cup and League title in the bag weeks ago. Good team though, not the best I've seen.

  7. Aye, I misunderstood compo's point (I thought he meant winning them both in the same season but he's referring to teams finishing third or fourth and then winning the CL). Calling it the Champions League is a bit of a joke.

  10. Average because the opposition in Scotland is so poor in Europe we've probably overarching but I will accept that . Being of the older generation I remember when teams from Scotland always did well I the three European tournaments

  14. Both SG and Gio type of football is more suited to Europe than domestically, and I know how stupid that sounds and after Thursday, they've blown away the theory of not being able to play in front of fans 😀 Last season we HAD to win the league, given the "tainted 9" and Terry Munro etc. And yes I understand Rangers have to win the league every year, but last season was a MUST. As yet, we haven't won anything this season but if we do manage to win both cup finals we are in, it would be a remarkable achievement and one the would top a "domestic" double, treble or winning the SPFL title. Scottish teams have contested 10 European Cup Finals and we are now in our 5th (so half of those finals have involved us). That shows that historically we are the club who flies the flag in Europe and continue to do so. This is even more remarkable given where we've been in last decade (and the financial benefit that handed to our rivals) and the huge financial disparity in European Football. Rangers shouldn't be anywhere near a major European final never mind winning it - we're 1 game from cemented the single greatest achievement in the history of Scottish Football (it can be argued that getting to the final qualified for that title). Let that sink in. If this team do win the EL than they will rightly be classed as one of, if not the best in our history and the best in Scottish footballing history.

  15. https://www.youtube.com/c/LMCVlogs/videos This You Tube channel is great. It's run by a young Rangers fan and you can see his coverage of many of this season's games, including Thursday night. He does other teams as well, for example East Kilbride v Berwick Rangers, St Mirren v Dundee, Partick v ICT, Edinburgh semi-final and others. Well worth looking at.

  16. I've enjoy watching this team in Europe since Gerrard came in as manager, and despite my initial doubts over Gio, he has taken us to another level, in Europe certainly. This team has punched above it's weight in Europe so far, IMO, however the top class performances we have consistently produced in Europe has me thinking is this team one of the best Rangers team I have witnessed! I know this will get me slaughtered but the way we are playing has me wondering just how good is this team compares to previous teams?.

  17. Not long in from game after a few swallies. Poorest United team I've ever seen such an easy result. Thanks Gio for giving the youngsters a go and for letting us see them. As for the opposition Mulgrew showed his class? in inviting ref to stop play when two balls on park---total asshole.

  23. No injuries, please, God. There are 'professional' footballers who would be delighted to stymie, by foul means, or foul, our attempt to win the Euro Cup. Some will be in the Dundee Hibs side, today.

  24. Tell that to their fans. I like it when they have more Irish in their side - Anton Rogan and Shane Duffy were always a joy to watch.

  25. I disagree 100%. If we win this it eclipses anything previously achieved by a Scottish team in Europe. The landscape of football gas changed so much in the last 30 years.

  26. The only time those bastards ever refer to themselves as British is when they’re whining about the European Cup.

  27. I may get slaughtered for this but can it really be argued that it would be better than the achievement of being the first British team to win the Euro Cup in 1967? That same year we also got to a Euro final and should have won it if we hadn't had to have Roger Hynd at CF. Scotland also beat the world champions at Wembley so it was a vintage year for Scottish football. You have a very valid point about the financial disparity though.

  28. And the big difference there was that the English League had a different champion almost every season as it was a much more level playing field. Leicester apart, it's pretty much a financial cartel these days.

  29. Villa and Forest won the league the year before they won the European Cup? Forest retained it based on being on the previous years existing champions.

  31. Good to see the young team getting involved with the club. Nights like that will live long in the memory of the wee man. Saddens me to think that he'll get dogs abuse from full grown men who think he needs to brought down a peg or two.

  33. I like the bit when he says if we win the Europa League it overshadows them winning the league. No shit Sherlock. No one gives a damn anyway. If we win this, it overshadows anything done by Scottish team before. Including Lisbon 67.

  36. I know UEFA are quite strict with kit clashes but does royal blue clash with black? I'm hoping we just have to wear alternative socks and go with red socks, white tops (I hate it when we wear white socks and blue isn't much better). Wearing lilac for a European final would be disappointing.

  44. Well, that was the week that was. 1. We begin the week with the Apologist, Michael Stewart utilising an unusual, hard to read format on his Twitter feed; to aplogise to Rangers, Rangers supporters and, Jim Traynor. 2. Rangers defeat RB Leipzig 3-1 at Ibrox in the Europa League semi-final to earn a place in the Europa League final. 3. Today, the Times announce they have decided not to renew the contract of Journalist, Graham Spiers. We are off to Seville and ra Bhoy in Corduroy(season ticket holder at ra Stade de Gadd along with his two sons these last three seasons) receives attention from the Spanish Archer. Graham continues to do a Podcast for a niche audience, he provides a service for ra Sellik-minded. This week he interviews Tom Devine about sectarianism, last week he interviewed the Apologist about hating Rangers and Rangers supporters. Joy of joys.
