  1. I'd prefer if we didn't start shouting about stripping titles. It's not about us. It's about the victims, and getting justice for them. Let's not cause any deflection from that and then allowing people to focus on the validity of any such stripping claims as all it will do it is take people's attention away from the hideous acts, the ongoing cover-up and compensation for the victims and their families.

  2. See below a very brief lowdown on our potential opponents. Roma - 5th in Serie a. Not at their best but a quality side. Dismantled Istanbul home and away in the group and squeezed past two German sides. Narrow win over Gent in last 32. Not the worst draw of the big names. Wolfsburg - 7th in Bundesliga, very lucky to get through the group and got an easy draw in Malmo. Would be a good draw. LASK - Top of the Austrian Bundesliga ahead of RB Salzburg. They've done well in Europe. Would be a tough draw by the looks of it. Basel - 3rd in Swiss league with very poor form, 5 behind Young Boys. Lost home and away to LASK in UCL qualifiers but have been superb in the EL. A good draw but they've been very good in this competition. Leverkusen - 5th in Bundesliga but near the top, only 6 behind Bayern, definitely one to avoid Istanbul Basaksehir - Who? Well they are top of the league after 23 games so are better than you might think. They've blown hot and cold in Europe, beating Wolfsberg home and away in the process. Wolves - Probably One to avoid. They've been very good in this competition blowing away Espanyol and Besiktas with 4-0 wins. Sitting 8th in the EPL but ECL places are still within their reach. Shakthar - One to avoid, played 19 in the league and won 17 and drawn 2. Took 6 points from UCL group to finish ahead of Dinamo Zagreb and held Man City 1-1 at the Etihad. Inter - 3rd in Serie a but form has stalled badly. Competed pretty well in a tough group in the ECL, being edged out by Barcelona and Dortmund. One to avoid. Man Utd - 5th in EPL with patchy form but they've blown away a few teams at Old Trafford in this competition and have to be considered one of the tougher draws Olympiacos - Another UCL drop in. Top of their league and flying. Swept aside Istanbul Basaksehir and Krasnador in UCL qualifiers and competed with strong sides in the group stages. Beating Arsenal is a big statement from them. One to avoid I think. Sevilla - Joint 3rd with Atletico and only 10-12 points of Barca and Real. Cruised through the group but only squeezed past Cluj on away goals. On paper a quality side but in terms of style maybe a side we could take. Copenhagen - 9 points behind Midtjylland in the league. Somehow squeezed through a weak group scoring only 5 goals in 6 games. Got a very jammy draw in the last 32. Would be a very good draw. Getafe - 5th in La liga and only a point off Sevilla and Atletico. Having a fantastic season. Beaten home and away by Basel in groups but got through after getting 4 wins in 4 from Trabzonspor and Krasnodar and pulled off an impressive win over Ajax in the last 32. Very beatable but a dark horse. One of the better draws still I think.

  4. A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. Donalda MacKinnon, Director of BBC Scotland has announced her intention to resign in the coming Autumn. She will have held the post for less than four years. Donalda lasted five years as Chair of St Aloysius PTA. The launch of BBC Scotland's second channel cost £32 million and Donalda was wholly positive on the opportunities available, the improvement on skills 'levels, and the application of Scotland's voice in a most competitive market. One of her biggest cheerleaders, DrStu' added support, welcoming a new, modern Scotland having the maturity to put it's own spin on world events. A year down the line, and the channel has quietly submerged. Initial viewing figures were poor, and have steadily decreased. Seventeen shows registered zero viewing figures. The tide is high, and Donalda is not holding on. She has decided to push off into the Clyde on a Pedalo, going with the flow. Job done? Donalda and her Cheerleaders gave notice today, the workers on the new channel have their jobs guaranteed for the next year. I believe a number signed up on three - four year contracts. DrStu' and Eammon O'Neill announced their new Media Review show, the Big Light will be presented by Podcast. DrStu' remains for Off the Ball because the exposure is most necessary, but half an eye remains on the Pedalo's five remaining seats. Staffers are safe for now, Freelancers have been the Pirates. Raiding a few slices from the £32 million dripping roast helps with the school fees, the community fees on foreign properties, and the initial capital outlays for the next projects. I note one of the constant complaints about the channel's flagship shows, 'the Nine' and 'the Seven' was the insistence on the Presenters wearing jeans and trainers. I propose FlowJob, the Drag Artist that read a story to Primary 1 pupils at Glencoat Primary School in Paisley with the assistance of Mhairi Black MP, should take over presenting duties? At least, she would insist on wearing a better pair of shoes. Him/Her, and Michael Stewart would be perfect together, competing for custodial rights to the Fisting Glove. Yep, Michael is back and DrStu' is cock a hoop, it's his preferred combination. Less well publicised was OfCom kicking-out ra Sellik's complaint on Sky TV's interview with Alfredo Morelos. Quietly, on Monday night the broadcast thoughts of DrStu looking forward immensely to OfCom publishing all the names and revealing the subterfuge; were stymied by a refusal to accept a complaint. One committee torpedoes hopes, another, the SFA Disciplinary blows your ballast. James Keatings has his red card overturned and more shite floats to the surface. Michael Stewart tweeted on the Rangers 18 year old player smiling as the Inverness player was sent off? He wanted the colt player done. What is it with prominent Nationalists abusing teenagers by text? Talking of nationalism, on Saturday Tam and DrStu' had Andrew Wilson on as a guest. A former SNP MSP and Director of Motherwell. He was far more subtle than Michael, obviously a more careful hater of the H-u-ns. Despairing of the current state of Scotland's ability to produce decent youth players, he found fault with the old firm on three separate occasions. He acknowledged both old firm clubs had their own legitimate concerns to pursue, but each time he provided an example of the problem. Everyone of those examples was a Motherwell youth being stymied in his development by leaving for Rangers. He named both Miller and Hastie. Another problem in Scottish football laid at Rangers door, without counter argument. Now, I hope no Rangers supporter takes the literal interpretation. I mean we do not want the repetition of Michael Stewart pointing the finger at James Traynor and the former Journo being bricked in the face a week later. PQ's re-hiring of Freelancer, Michael Stewart is because he is a willing useful idiot with lots more fingers to point. When Donalda's Pedalo leaves the slip, let's hope Rangers supporters line the Quay and provide her with a Viking funeral. Those Danes know how to administer a finish.

  6. Meanwhile in The Twilight Zone Old Trafford is called The Theatre of Dreams; in the eastern end of Glasgow, we have The Theatre of the Absurd. News 1 hr ago Copenhagen star Michael Santos charged over alleged assault of Glasgow cop after goal at Celtic Park Exclusive by Mark Hendry @mhendry92Sports Writer https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18268723.copenhagen-star-michael-santos-charged-alleged-assault-glasgow-cop-goal-celtic-park/ Copenhagen star Michael Santos charged over alleged assault of Glasgow cop after goal at Celtic Park Copenhagen goal scorer Michael Santos has been charged in connection with an alleged assault on a police officer during last night's Celtic victory at Parkhead. The attacker was allegedly involved in an altercation with an officer as his side celebrated their second goal at Parkhead, scored by Pep Biel. Santos and a member of the Copenhagen staff were both charged in connection with an alleged assault, Police Scotland have now confirmed. A spokeswoman for the force said: "Two men aged 26 and 42 were charged in connection with an alleged assault at Celtic Park last night. They have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal." Meanwhile eight fans were arrested last night including six home supporters and two away fans. The arrests were for alleged minor disorders.

  7. I see Arsenal lost out to an away goal scored in extra time in their aggregate 2-2 draw. To me this is unfair as I believe they should not count double because in the first leg the away team does not have the benefit of an extra 30 minutes,so it should go to penalties.

  8. The only assault i witnessed from my armchair view was committed by a member of police Scotland on one of the Copenhagen players, clear as day.

  9. A very, very tough draw in Bayer Leverkusen but if we can take a decent result to Germany, you never know. We need to turn our attention back to domestic football now with a huge game in Edinburgh tomorrow. More mud, wind and rain expected. We must up our quality!

  12. Tom English has just given his conclusion : "Celtic are a better team, had they gone through they would have gone further in the tournament than Copenhagen". Some would say that sounds a bit Irish?

  13. Copenhagen's Coach just interviewed on Radio Shortbread. He mentions the club visited Auchenhowie today and met Stevie G. They were made most welcome and Gerrard hoped Rangers would draw Copenhagen in Friday's draw? Tom English hopes Rangers draw Man U.

  15. In the absence of a proper preview, I'll point everyone in the direction of today's press conference thread on Twitter. After such a tough game physically the other night, I'd like the chance to make a few changes to the team but I think we need to play our strongest XI tomorrow and perhaps allow more players a rest next Wednesday at home v Hamilton. As such I'd go with an XI along the lines of below. I would rest Kent: he worked incredibly hard the other night and I don't think the tight Tynie pitch will do him any favours. In saying that, Hearts have been playing a very open game lately so it may depend on the manager's thinking in terms of finding space on the counter. Nevertheless, I'd replace him with Stewart who might work better in this game. Joe Aribo might also fancy his chances of making the starting XI as Ianis Hagi might be another who could start from the bench. Arfield has been in good form recently and we'll need him again tomorrow but with him, Jack and Davis all playing the full 90mins in Braga, one of the three may well drop out as well for Aribo or Kamara. Good news is that Morelos is available again (and has to start scoring again soon surely) whilst the manager has also said that Jermain Defoe might make the squad after his recent injury. Possible Starting XI (4-3-2-1):

  16. As far as I can see there’s no traction at all in Scotland and no sign of it starting any time soon. Far too many people covering far too many backs, all complicit, all mutually dependent on not rocking this particular boat.

  18. Because, based on our performances since Christmas, it's us that would benefit from the second berth rather than them. We're int he position now that we need them to drop points elsewhere even if we win all our outstanding games including the derbies...

  21. It allows them to respond on one and not the other. I understand your viewpoint but with a compliant press, the focus on the titles and why it's not correct will be what hogs the headlines.

  22. Yes in terms of the history and tradition, but in terms of quality I think I think it is exciting. They look a step up in quality from anyone we've played in the last decade. Jonathan Tah starts for Germany at centre back and will be the best centre back Morelos has ever played against. Kai Havertz is possibly Germany's brightest talent and has been linked with £100m moves. He is probably the best attacking talent we will have come up against in the same time period. Nadiem Amiri is another German international who is an attacking midfielder and they have a few other very highly rated players. It is always interesting to see how we fare when tested by higher quality sides.

  23. After a fine team performance, I'd imagine there will be a fair spread of votes. For me the central defence were most impressive, though I thought the central midfield got better as the game went on. My vote is Connor Goldson who really led from the front back throughout. He seemed to win everything in the air and was very unlucky not to score at the other end too.

  24. Could not agree more. This is about the victims and getting them justice after all the years of pain. Those who covered this up and let the perpetrators keep abusing boys for decades behind a wall of silence need to be held to account.

  25. agreed for now but that part must come. But not just for celtc for any club who covered it up and gained a sporting advantage. we have had testimony hibs covered this up to stay competitive in youth recruitment. We have seen testimony Stein siad the club name had to be kept clean. we may have to lose trophies and certainly should if there was a cover up. But that can and should wait till the victims get justice.

  33. 4-5 very good chances, but poorly executed, and then they gave them their goal. Sounds familiar, to be honest... It's the sort of game that happens regularly in Scotland, but the pundits seem to always praise the winners in that situation. I wonder what's different? Morelos take note: that's how you finish from close range - a wee dink over the sprawling Forster.

  38. Now how did these fans get into this game? Porto vs Bayer 04 Leverkusen What would happen if they were incognito and acted like Leverkusen fans and threw in a few FTPs? Celtic used that excuse with Hammersby fans and they didn't get stadium closure. I'm not trying to excuse the problematic behaviour of our fans, but it does show how easily the waters can be muddied.
